UNICEF Moscow

  1. Purpose of the position:

Under the general guidance of the UNICEF Russia Representative and with frequent interaction and technical support from Private Fundraising and Partnerships in Geneva the incumbent will be responsible for overseeing the fundraising section of UNICEF Moscow. A key function of the new UNICEF presence in the Russian Federation in 2012 will be the fundraising from the private sector.

The purpose of this position is to support the Moscow Office for the period November 2011 – March 2012 while the Office accomplishes the recruitment process against the fixed term post of Fundraising Manager for UNICEF Moscow.

Incumbent of the Temporary Appointment willbe eligible to apply for the fixed term post of Chief of Fundraising in Moscow and the application will be given every consideration subject to the satisfactory performance displayed while employed under the Temporary Appointment.

  1. Major Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Finalisationand implementation of the Russian Joint Strategic Plan 2012-2015 - Components include, JSP Map, financial breakdown of targets& annexes;
  1. Consolidation of existing partnership withmajor corporate donors to maintain or increase their contributions to UNICEF RF or global causes; ensuring additional income during last half of 2011;
  1. Finalise negotiations with prospective partnerships;
  1. Monitoring of fundraising costs and income against plan. Ensuring correct procedures followed;
  1. New Prospects: Ensurefollow-up contact with prospects who have expressed interest in partnering with UNICEF. Significantly expand prospect base by targeting specific industries, i.e. banks, telecoms.
  1. Research corporate landscape – A mapping and segmentation of corporate prospects in Russia with research to include, industry, no. of employees, key contacts, turnover, interests and potential range of donation/partnership, etc.;
  1. Income generation/Moves Management – Follow moves management principles and practice. Number of calls, visits and solicitations to be agreed with Supervisor. With an overall deliverable to have contact reports on each prospect and next steps;
  1. Ensure all past and new contacts and moves management are recorded in database;
  1. Supervise and guide the fundraising team in the Russian Federation;
  1. Advise and participate in recruitment of new Fundraising position (NOB) and define any temporary assistance needs for office;
  1. Manage and help train new staff on fundraising, both corporate and individual.
  1. WORK LOCATION:

Position is based in Moscow although travel for regular meeting with PFP in Geneva will be required.

  1. QUALIFICATIONS AND COMPETENCIES required to perform the duties of the position:

(a)EDUCATION (Indicate the level of formal education and/or training and field of specialization required.)

Advanced university degree in Business Management, Communication, Public Relations; Marketing: or equivalent professional work experience in Fundraising and sponsorships, combined with a university degree in a related field. A first level university degree in combination with qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.

(b)WORK EXPERIENCE (Indicate the length and type of practical experience required at the national and international levels.)

Eight years progressively responsible professional work experience in fundraising, marketing, sponsorship, communications, project management, including work with the corporate sector, with a minimum of three years at the international level. Substantial staff management experience required. Knowledge of current theories and practices in fundraising, marketing and sponsorship highly desirable.

(c)LANGUAGES (Indicate the language requirements.)

Fluency in English required. Another UN language an asset.

  1. Salary and Entitlements:

Salary and entitlements will be in accordance with the latest salary scale for the professional and higher categories of the United Nations and UNICEFs rules and regulation governing Temporary appointments.
