The UERMMMC Medical Alumni Association - MARVADC Chapter was founded in 1990. Dr. Adolfo Alonso was the first President of the chapter, and in 2005, the Chapter was incorporated as a non-profit organization.
Local projects consist of networking, CME lectures, and health fairs. We have also supported projects for the medical library and student scholarships for our alma mater, the University of the EastRamonMagsaysayMemorialMedicalCenter in Quezon City, Philippines.
In the last 2 years, the MARVADC Chapter has become strong advocates to the needs of the recent graduates of the MedicalSchool who have decided to pursue their training here in the United States. This project has led to the creation of the Young Alumni Development Project (YADP). YADP has given some of our young alumni the opportunity to present their academic works which they have done either as a student or during their residency training to the whole UERM alumni community during the annual UERM Alumni Reunion and Convention. YADP has also mentored our alumni as they go through the rigid process of residency application here in the USA.
The Chapter’s website - - has been created and currently maintained by one of our Chapter member, Dr. Bhagwan (Bob) Moorjani. It is our goal to be reach out and provide information to all our alumni in the Mid Atlantic States (Maryland, Virginia, and the District of Columbia) and other interested parties. The website will also provide current updates and information of the Chapter’s activities. This year (2009), the MARVADC Chapter website is proud to provide the information for the 20thAnnual UERM Alumni Reunion and Convention in San Francisco on July 3-6, 2008. Downloadable application forms for the convention, as well as a link to the “Passkey” for online registation is available in this website.
