Emily Schranz

JEREMY WRIGHT:

He was born in 1989.

He is from Illinois, USA.

He currently attends Columbia College in Chicago.

All of his self- portraits reveal something a little different about his personality. He breaks away from typical portraiture, adding illusionary aspects. For example, in “Falling Apart” his expression looks tired. The figure appears physicaslly drained. In relation to that feeling of emptiness, there is physical emptiness in his head.

Art History:

1.) What kinds of metaphors are being represented in his works?

2.) Was the artist’s main goal in producing portraits in this manner?

3.) Consider the way these pieces were framed. What does that tell you about the artist personality? Other than the framing, is there anything else that tells you about the artist?
