NC State Park Scholarship – This scholarship is a full ride to NC State University. Students should have a least a 3.9 GPA and have a combined SAT score of 1250 or ACT Composite of 28. If you are interested in this scholarship please see Ms. Lazzari in the counseling department. The deadline to apply is September 23rd.

Wendy Heisman Scholarship – Open to all seniors who play at least one sport and maintain a “B” grade average. The application must be filled out by October 3rd . You can sign up at WintheWendysHeisman.com. If you have any questions please see Ms. Lazzari in the counseling department. Winners will be selected locally and then will compete on the state level.

Morehead-Cain Scholarship – This is a full ride merit scholarship to UNC Chapel Hill. Student should exhibit scholarship, leadership, moral force of character, and physical vigor. Student should have at least a 3.8 GPA with SAT score of 1280 (math and CR) and ACT of 30. If you are in

terested in this scholarship please let Ms. Lazzari know by September 29th.

John M. Belk Scholarship – This is a full ride Merit Scholarship for students who plan to attend Davison University. The student must also apply to Davidson for their binding deadline October 15th. Students interested in this scholarship please let Ms. Lazzari know by October 7th.

Levine Scholars Program – This is a full ride merit scholarship to UNC Charlotte. Students should have a 3.8 or higher GPA and a SAT of 1900-2400 or ACT 29-36. Students interested in this scholarship please see Ms. Lazzari by October 7th.

Daughters of the American Revolution - The DAR Good Citizens program and scholarship contest is intended to encourage and reward the qualities of good citizenship. Applicant must write an essay on how they have dependability, service, leadership, and patriotism (further description available on application). Completed essays must be turned in to Ms. Lazzari by October 21st.

Horatio Alger Association Scholarship Program –Program is the only major scholarship effort that specifically assists high school students who have faced and overcome great obstacles in their young lives. While many aid programs are directed primarily to recognizing academic achievement or leadership potential, the Horatio Alger program also seeks students who have a commitment to use their college degrees in service to others. Applicant must have a strong commitment to pursue and complete a bachelor's degree at an accredited institution located in the United States (students may start their studies at a two-year institution and then transfer to a four-year institution); have critical financial need ($55,000 or less adjusted gross income per family is preferred; if higher, an explanation must be provided); involvement in co-curricular and community activities; and have a minimum GPA of 2.0. Students must apply online at scholars.horatioalger.org. Applications are due by October 25th.

Coca-Cola Scholarship – gives out a total of $3 million a year in scholarships to seniors across the United States. Students need to fill out an application at www.coca-colascholars.org. You must demonstrate leadership in school, commitment to community, academic achievement, and be employed part-time. Application must be received by October 31st.

Thomas Wolfe Scholarship – This is a full undergraduate support for student writers. You can pick up the application September 1st. The deadline for this application is November 15th. Applications can be found online at http://englishcomplit.unc.edu/creative/scholarship/tws.

Scholarships for all students (11th, 10th, and 9th Graders)

Prudential Spirit of Community Award – This is an award for students who are volunteered in the community. You can win $1000 and a trip to Washington D.C. You must apply online at http://spirit.prudential.com. Once you have complete your online application, print it out, sign it, have a parent sign it, and turn it in to Ms. Lazzari. If you have any questions please see Ms. Lazzari in the counseling office. Applications are due to the counseling department by November 8th.
