This offer is extended to you on the condition that you complete all requirements for conferral of the Ph.D. degree in (specify what the degree is in)prior to Month/Day/Year.If the degree is not conferred by this date, the Dean must receive notification from your dissertation chair prior to this date that you have completed all of the requirements for the Ph.D. and that it will be conferred on a specific date.

If you do not complete all the requirements at that time, your appointment will be at the rank of Instructor, a non-tenure track appointment, with an initial salary of $Amount for one academic year. This appointment will be converted to the rank of Assistant Professor at the beginning of the semester after the one in which you complete all requirements for the Ph.D. and your salary will be adjusted at the same time. In this case, your probationary period for tenure will begin in the fall semester 20__ (first full year of being an Assistant Professor).

The position to which you are appointed is exempt from the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and as such, it is not eligible for overtime compensation.

All new tenure track faculty are required to attend New Faculty Orientation scheduled for all of August 14th and 15th, 2018. You will receive more information about orientation from the Provost’s office in July.

If you are currently on leave from another tenure track or tenured position, you must resign your current position prior to the beginning of your appointment at UCCS. This is a mandatory condition of your employment.

For purposes of annual merit evaluation, your efforts and accomplishments will be assessed according to a workload formula of40% teaching, 40% research/creative work, and 20% service to the Department, University and profession.Your teaching load for the X academic year will be X 3-credit hour courses total during the fall and spring semesters. Insubsequent academic years, your teaching load will be five 3-credit hour courses. The particular course assignments will be determined by your department chair in consultation with you.By accepting this appointment, you agree to perform duties and responsibilities which are in the area of your expertise or academic interest, or are otherwise appropriate, and which are assigned to you consistent with your rights and responsibilities as a faculty member, and the policies and procedures of the University and of your academic unit.

In this appointment as Assistant Professor you will receive $Amount to purchase (a computer, etc.) which will remain the property of the University of Colorado but will be for your exclusive use as long as you remain a member of the faculty.Additional information on faculty support (include start-up costs, etc.) Start-up funds are intended to enhance your research at UCCS. Should you leave your position at UCCS prior to the end of your initial three years, you agree that you will reimburse the University for start-up funds spent for (example: travel, conferences or any other allowable expenditures that would not result in a benefit to the University if the employee leaves the position).

You will be paid monthly on the last working day of the month. Your first paycheck will be deposited on the last working day of September. You may elect to have your pay distributed over 12 months instead of 9 months by completing aFaculty Election to Defer Receipt of Salary Paymentform (enclosed). Faculty Election to Defer Receipt of Salary Payment

(Request to Receive Salary Payments Over Twelve Months)

hereby request the allocation of my 9-month academic year salary be paid equally over the 12-month period of September 1 through August 31 of the following year.

Note: For current employees who are making a request for the following academic year, this form must be returned to the Office of Human Resources by June 30 prior to the start of the academic year for which they are requesting that it take effect. New employees hired after June 30 will have 30 days from date of hire to make an election.

My signature below indicates that by requesting an allocation of my 9-month academic year salary be paid over the 12-month period of September 1 through August 31, I understand that:

  1. My 9-month gross salary will be disbursed to me in equal payments over the 12-month period from September 1 through August 31.
  1. My deductions (taxes, benefits, retirement, etc…) will also be processed over 12 months.
  1. This election will take effect for the academic year following the date it was submitted if submitted by June 30.
  1. Once elected, I will not be allowed to revoke this election during the year and the payout will be made in accordance with the standard 12-month distribution schedule, except in the event of my termination, death, disability, or unforeseeable emergency when pay out of funds may be legally required.
