  • Reference pages do not follow MLA format
  • Many did not communicate the problem clearly

A-2 CAD Foundations

  • Know the 3 main views and how to relate them to the ISO view shown
  • Know how to draw in metric and English units
  • Know how to scale dimension text
  • Know how to scale drawings

A-3Career Prep

  • Include general knowledge of entry level skills within your research
  • Interviewee should enter the interview by introducing yourself and shaking the interviewer (s) hand
  • Eye Contact with interviewers in important
  • Assume the role of the character you created. Should match your research/paperwork

  • Prepare for ALL possible topics
  • Manage your time, going over hurts your score

  • Document multiple readings to your target audience throughout the writing process

  • ALL artwork must be team members original work

  • Be mindful of event guidelines. Photo Consent forms should have been saved as part of the PDF

  • Do not include chapter or School name on displays
  • Both team members being interviewed should participate and have knowledge of the project
  • Show how multiple ideas were considered before settling on the final idea

A-10Digital Photography

  • Pay attention to MLA format
  • Watch for Run-on sentences and grammar
  • Album is to be submitted as a single document, not individual pages
  • Go beyond Webster’s Definition
  • Thoughtful ideas that Say something, tell a story, show emotions
  • With the write-up, more is not necessarily better.
  • Make sure enhancement actually improve the image
  • Neatness counts

A-12Electrical Applications

  • Notebooks were not setup in useful or organized fashion
  • Makes sure you understand the different parts and their basic function
  • Work on neatness of wiring components
  • Be confident on your knowledge of electronic circuit design and application of components
  • Ensure you read the challenge and address ALL aspects required for the solution
  • Keep track of time, neatness and accuracy of your solution
  • Appropriate competition attire

A-13Environmental Engineering

  • Follow Guidelines of the Project.
  • Don’t try to “shoehorn” a previous project into the event.
  • Include all required parts
  • Rehearse your presentation
  • Don’t over animate presentation, especially if using video or timed slides
  • Use index cards to assist in presentation (if not memorized)
  • Keep hands out of pockets
  • Make sure laptop is charged and the presentation is loaded, there is never internet provided.

A-14Essays on Technology

  • Must use MLA format-the difference in good vs bad biliographies
  • Thesis needs to “grab” the readers attention
  • Use reliable sources, Wiki is not considered reliable
  • Use Outline format
  • Avoid Starting sentences with numbers i.e. 5 years ago……
  • Too many commas
  • Must be Double Spaced
  • Make sure laptop is charged and the presentation is loaded, there is never internet provided.

  • Sketch of crime scene should have included ALL evidence and areas of interest Most all left parts off
  • Most written analysis began with personal opinion rather than facts or evidence

A-19Junior Solar Sprint

  • Proofread & check grammar
  • Neatness on Logs counts
  • Some boxes decorated others were not, detracts from display asthetics
  • Check connections, solder joints, Gear ratios, Alignments….
  • Make sure screw eyes are open

A-22Medical Technology

  • Follow Guidelines of the Project, lots of points lost to simples omissions from the Guidelines
  • Neatness counts!
  • Displays/models were well done, presentations were weak
  • Rehearse your presentation try not to use note cards
  • Be more even with speaking time distribution

A-24Prepared Speech

  • Watch sentence structure & grammar during your presentation
  • Breathe and pace yourself
  • Should avoid swaying from side to side
  • Square your shoulders & stand with feet shoulder width apart

A-26Promotional Marketing

  • Follow Guidelines of the Project, include ALL required criteria
  • Copyrighted material MUST be cited in MLA format
  • It helps to display tshirt designs on a tshirt in your editing software
  • Be sure to follow size formatting detailed in the rules
  • Avoid too much white space
  • Make sure your solution centers around the “heart” of the prompt, not just what looks good
  • All files were to be submitted in PDF format
  • Cite pictures, fonts and software used

A-33Video Game Design

  • Submit documentation in PDF
  • Make storyboards and make sure judges can follow the game
  • Improve “Flow” of the games
  • Understand what an EDUCATIONAL E Rated game is
