Pay & Conditions:Classification is as per NHACE Agreement 2016, Schedule 3D, Teacher 1 Increment 2 and includes annual and personal leave entitlements.

About the Organisation

Lalor Living & Learning Centre Inc. (LLLC) is a community based not-for-profit Registered Training Organisation (TOID 3902) and a Neighbourhood Housewhich has been offering many different activities and classes for members of the community for 30 years.

This welcoming, friendly and professional Centre provides activities that focus on adult education, in particular English, Literacy and introductory level information technology courses. The Centre is very supportive of learners of all ages from culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) backgrounds and also provides Occasional Childcare and After School Tutoring programs.

About the Role

We seeka motivated and professionally experienced teacher / trainer to deliver the nationally accredited 22236VIC Certificate I in General Education for Adults (CGEA 1).

You will be responsible for delivering topic-based units, including literacy and numeracy, using a variety of resources in order to cater tostudent’s individual learning styles. You will demonstrate understanding of adult learning principles for culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) and educationally disadvantaged learners.

The role has two components: teaching delivery and curriculum development - (to be negotiated if required on an “as needs” basis)

The teaching delivery component of the role includes (paid at base rate plus loading):

- delivery of Certificate I in General Education for Adults (CGEA I) as per the requirements of the

Training & Assessment Strategy (TAS): this includes following the Course Schedule of units and

delivery dates:

- preparing and documenting session planning in the supplied Unit Overview

- administering student assessment tasks for each unit as documented in the Assessment Toolkit

- collecting student work and assessments as evidence of participation

- maintaining daily attendance rolls

- maintainingother administrative records including Assessment Outcome records, Unit Outcome

Records, Student Individual Training Plans, Student Placement & Withdrawal information

- ongoing evaluation of course delivery

- updating and filing of curriculum documents

The non-teaching delivery aspect of the role has two components (paid at base rate):

A. Course Management/Maintenance

- participating in validation and moderation of assessment activity, including reviewing assessment

mapping

- participating in evaluation and planning of the Training & Assessment Strategy

- attendance and participation at RTO/Teacher’s Meetings

B.Course and/or Curriculum Development - (to be negotiated if required on an “as needs” basis)

- development of the Assessment toolkit using Lalor LLC templates for each unit, including:

Assessment Tasks, Assessment Guide - Teacher (marking guide), Assessment Guide - Student, Assessment Mapping

- Unit Overview review, development and documentation[PS1]

The course is currently timetabled for delivery on Thursdayand Friday mornings during Victorian school term dates: there is some limited flexibility with the timetabling of this qualification. Occasionally meetings or make-up classes will be held outside these dates and the Lalor Living & Learning Centre closes annually at Christmas for approximately three weeks.

Additional teaching or development work may be available in Certificates in Spoken & Written English (CSWE) and Pre-accredited programs.

Skills, Knowledge & Attributes

The applicant must have:

  • Certificate IV in Training and AssessmentTAE40110, or its successor
  • Relevant vocational competency (with demonstrable expertise in teaching literacy and/or numeracy)
  • A relevant bachelor degree: preferably a teaching qualification with a relevant method (literacy and/or numeracy)
  • Experience teaching CGEA with excellent understanding of the current curriculum
  • demonstrated ability to document curriculum to minimum standards
  • demonstrated ability to set and meet realistic timelines

And be able to meet the requirements specified in the VRQA Guidelines for VET Providers

Items 3.2 and 3.3, that an RTO’s training and assessment must be delivered only by persons who have:

a)vocational competencies at least to the level being delivered and assessed;

b)current industry skills directly relevant to the training and assessment being provided; and

c)current knowledge and skills in vocational training and learning that informs their training and assessment.

In order to be considered for additional teaching opportunities, it would be desirable to have:

  • an appropriate TESOL/LOTE qualification
  • experience delivering Certificates in Spoken & Written English and/or Information Technology
  • experience delivering Pre-accredited courses using the Pre-accredited Quality Framework (A-frame)
