The Ivy Speech and Language Centre is a Kent specialist resource based provision for children with speech, language and communication needs (SLCN), based at West Minster Primary School. We are part of the Sheerness West Federation, which has Rose Street Primary as its partner.

West Minster was judged as ‘Good’ with outstanding features in our recent (November 2016) OFSTED inspection.

Here in the Ivy Centre we promote a warm, friendly and stimulating environment, where talents are recognised and children with speech and language disorders are well supported in achieving their goals.

Role Profile

We are seeking to appoint a highly motivated and resilient individual who has a clear commitment to inclusion and a passion for ensuring that all pupils achieve their best. The post involves working under the direction of the teacher in charge of the unit and the Assistant Head responsible for Inclusion. Two dedicated Teaching Assistants provide support, and the children receive regular input from a Speech and Language Therapist. The person appointed will be part of a wider hard-working, supportive and highly successful Inclusion team that comprises SEN and well-being staff.
