Teacher Assistant Job Description

Position

  1. Part time teacher assistant position (20 to 35 hours) per week.
  2. Contract of 7 months but it can be renewed based on performance.
  3. Al-Manara preschool is currently a part time pre-school but soon will become a full time.

Job Description

Communication

The basic responsibilities of the preschool assistant are to support the preschool teacher. In a broader capacity, the assistant must also follow the directives and policies of the preschool director and maintain a cooperative attitude of working together with all school components: director, teachers, parents, and volunteers.

Education Assistance

The main responsibility of the teacher assistant is to support the main teacher, but may also take small groups of kids or work one-on-one with particular students during educational instruction.

Discipline and Parent Involvement

Classroom management is a shared responsibility for any educator in a class at any level. It definitely takes a team effort to help keep little ones calm, attentive and safe. When working in a small group or with individual students, the assistant must implement appropriate discipline for the age and in line with school policies. Assistants also update parents on daily activities or child-specific events at drop-offs or pick-ups, if the lead teacher isn't available.

Meetings and trainings

Attend staff meetings called by the center and join all training opportunities as provided by the school and Apex Mosque or by other agencies as recommended by al-ManaraDirector.

Safety and cleanness

Maintain a well-organized and safe environment for students by ensuring that no hazardous materials are present in the class Lead students for outdoor activities and monitor their movements closely to ensure that they are not harmed.

Escort students to bathrooms and assist them with their meals during lunchtime.

Perform after school cleaning and organization

After School

The teacher assistant has the responsibility to babysit and monitor children whom parents may come late, and ensure they are safe and have been taken care of till their parents pick them up.

Requirements:

  1. At least high school diploma.
  2. A minimum of one year experience working in a daycare or preschool.
  3. Pre-School certificate s and trainings
  4. Good communication skills

Compensation:

It will be determined based on qualifications.
