Eligibility

1.AGE

It is the coach’s responsibility to check the ages of their athletes. All players, in the opinion of their principal, must be bona fide students of their schools (must be taking 2 credits in a semester school or 4 credits in a full year program).

Please ensure all players continue to be registered for semester two. New students who register for semester two are ineligible for winter sports.

2.DIVISIONS

a)An athlete may only play at one division level during the school

year including the playoffs.

bi)A player from a junior team may play a maximum of two league

play dates (not playoffs) on a senior team without losing her junior

eligibility.

bii) If the junior division athlete plays three dates on a senior team

then the athlete becomes a member of that team and their name

must be entered on the eligibility form.

biii) A maximum of two junior players may be moved up for any one

date.

biv) To indicate that the player is from the junior team, their name

must be bracketed on the score sheet.

bv) Athletes may be moved up for a playoff match, but this must be a

serious situation and the convenor should be notified. Athletes

must have played one game at the senior level to be eligible.

3.ELIGIBILITY LIST (file on-line)

See your AD about filling in your eligibility list on-line. Players may be added subsequentially.Complete your list before the first league or

exhibition game. Include managers, trainers and coaches on list.

Please ensure eligibility is verified using OSRs.

a)All players must be listed on the eligibility list.

b)OVA states only twelve players may be listed on the scoresheet for any match. In the spirit of participation, this rule is not enforced for TDCAA play.

c)If you wish to make additions to the list:

i)contact your Athletic Director

ii)additions must be registered before the match in which the athlete plays

iii)additions must play one league match before being eligible

for playoff matches

Ejections

1.The referee may suspend a player or coach for the remaining part of

the set (expulsion) or the remaining part of the match (ejection).

2.The additional penalty from the TDCAA is suspension from the next

match or suspension for the remainder of the season if ejected a

second time.

3.The coach is responsible for ensuring the suspension is upheld. The

Athletic Director must also be informed.

4.A report will be sent to the executive secretary and one to the

convenor.

5.Any player or coach who is ejected from a match must appear before

the TDCAA disciplinary committee. An athlete may resume playing

after the suspension, however, a coach remains suspended indefinitely

until after the hearing.

Protests

1.All protests must be lodged with the TDCAA (check with your AD) within

24 hours of the conclusion of the disputed match.

2.Check the grounds of your protest through the convenor, your

Athletic Director and principal.

3.Eligibility protests may be taken at any time.

Schedule

1.League matches will not be rescheduled if a referee does not show. The

home team is responsible for providing a referee if one does not show. If there is no suitable official available rescheduling the match will be considered by the convenor.Please avoid changes to the final schedule. If a match is to be rescheduled due to weather, the home team is responsible for rescheduling the match and the referees. These changes must be emailed to the convenor. Please email Peter Artkin if the referee does not show.

2.If a team arrives 20 minutes late, the team will default the first set. A match will be defaulted if a team has not arrived by 30 minutes after the scheduled starting time. All scores in the defaulted sets will be 25 - 0.

3.Schools that forfeit a match, but do not notify the official assignor in time

to cancel the referee (2 days notice), will be charged the cost of the

referee.

4.In all double headers, the juniors will start for the first half of the season and the seniors will start for the second half of the season (junior and senior coaches need to communicate). Switch date is indicated on the schedule.

5.Starting times for all matches will be 3:15 unless otherwise stated on the schedule.

6.There is no set time for the start of the second match of a double header,

but teams must be ready to play one hour after the start of the first match.

Equipment

1.Net Height: Senior – 2.24 m or 7 ft. 4 ins.

Junior – 2.15 m or 7 ft. 1 inch

2.Nets should have vertical line markers (antennae).

3.All visiting teams must have their own practice balls.

4.The team uniforms should be numbered front and back (number 1 – 18) and every member must have matching tops (excluding Libero), preferably with matching bottoms.

5.The referee will need a stand which meets manufacturers specifications.

Schools without proper ref stands will be expected to play their games on

6.There should be two players’ benches.

7.For scoring, you will need: a scoring table, two chairs, score sheets, two scorers and pencils.

8. Gym floors should be swept before teams begin to warm-up.

Matches

1.All regular season matches are best 2 of 3 sets. The first 2 sets are to 25 points, the 3rd set is to 15 points. Teams must win the set by 2 points with no cap.

2.If a team wins 2 – 0, a third set to 15 cap is encouraged.

3.One point is awarded in the standings for winning a match.

Reporting Scores

1.Please ensure the score sheets are complete and legible before sending

via courier to Sharon Blais (Cardinal Newman).

3.The volleyball standings reflect the scores emailed by coaches.

4.If a team wins 2 – 0, a third set can be played, but this set is not reported.

Payment for officials is $45/match. Each school must bring a cheque for $22.50 for single matches OR $45 for double headers.

Single games are $25.00 for each school
