Presidents’ Report

Norton’s theme this year is “Making Connections.” The Cultural Committee has organized the first day of school festivities. There will be trumpeters playing to welcome the students as they enter the school and bookmarks with this year’s theme will be given to all the students.

Lisa and JoAnn are looking to increase attendance at this year’s PTA meetings so if anyone has any ideas, please contact either of the Presidents. Also, they are looking to use email addresses and social networks in order to communicate with the membership. The PTA membership amount has increased this year to $16 for a single membership and $21 for a double membership. The new playground equipment purchased with proceeds from last year’s auction was installed during the summer months for approximately $9,000.

The bulletin board at the entrance of the school needs to be updated regularly if anyone is interested in taking on that responsibility. Volunteers are also needed to review the PTA Bylaws by December 2011 and make any recommendations of changes. Spirit Days at Norton will return this year. In the past, some of the days have been “Crazy Hat,” “Crazy Socks,” “Team Jerseys,” etc.

Vice Presidents’ Report

Co-Vice President,Lisa Palma informed the group that the assembly of First Day Folders will take place on Thursday, August 18th at 9 a.m. Any help would be appreciated.
