TCCWB Advocacy Committee

The advocacy committee determines whether a legislative solution would be appropriate and recommends legislative issues for support by TCCWB. The advocacy committee also studies issues which affect services to abused and neglected children, children at risk, and their families. By participating with the Child Protection Roundtable, TCCWB is better able to analyze problems and questions in order to prioritize items for the TCCWB agenda. TCCWB works to advocate for adequate resources and policies in order for DFPS to provide services for abused and neglected children. They also inform regional boards and the community at large on these issues.

At each general meeting, the advocacy committee chair will present a list of issues identified for consideration by members of the Child Protection Roundtable, fellow CW board members and DFPS staff. Throughout the year advocacy committee will provide the executive director with information regarding these issuesto distribute information to the boards. In September, the Advocacy Committee will meet to begin planning for our next Capitol Day.
