RULES OF CONDUCT
These rules of conduct will apply to the QueenslandState team trial competitors and the eventual 2019 representative team members. This code of conduct is to be read in conjunction with the TBA Rules and Regulations.
- Bowlers must remain in the playing area until all play is completed.
- No food or drink in the playing area.
- No smoking while bowling or in between games of a block. In this event a “block” of games is considered 4 games. Whilst the lanes are being re-oiled following the first 4 games on Saturday, bowlers will be permitted to smoke in the break, but play will be resumed immediately dressing of the lanes has been completed, and any bowler not back on the lanes will forfeit the right to compete in the rest of the days play.
- Consumption of alcohol is prohibited whilst bowling.
- Mobile phones will be switched OFF and not allowed in the players’ area during the course of play.
- The wearing of headphones/headsets or hats during play is not allowed.
- Bowlers must always conduct themselves in a polite manner.
- No bad or offensive language to be used,and bowlers will refrain from kicking or otherwise abusing the ball returns or equipment.
- Unsportsmanlike remarks will NOT be tolerated.
- At no time will a deliberate foul be accepted.
* All rules must be adhered to, or person/persons will be reprimanded.
- When representing Queensland, any bowler contravening these rules may be sent home at their own expense.
- Any serious breach of these rules will result in automatic disqualification from bowling in any State Team Trials.
- All bowlers should be aware of, and will be subjected to, all ASADA policies, guidelines and penalties.
- NO bowler shall use electronic media, such as Facebook, Totalbowling,Twitter etc to defame or make derogatory remarks about any team member, TBA Ltd or TBAQ.
Any bowler not conforming to the conduct requirements of Tenpin Bowling Association of Queensland will have their right to represent Queensland revoked.

FORMAT FOR YOUTH TRIALS
Day 1 – Saturday 19th May 2018 – check in closes 8.15am, bowling 8.30am
Lanes will be dressed – All bowlers to bowl 4 games. Lanes will be re-oiled, and bowlers will bowl a further 4 games then the same process again 12 games on the Saturday
Day 2 – Sunday 20th May 2018 – Bowl 8.45 am
Lanes will be dressed – All bowlers to bowl 4 games.
At the conclusion of sixteen (16) games qualifying, the top four (4) males and the top four (4)females on scratch pinfall will be automatic selections into the 2019 QueenslandYouth Challenge Team.
In the event of a tie for the final qualifying position in either the male or female division, a single game will be played to break the tie. Any subsequent tie will require a 10th frame playoff until the tie is broken.
An occasion may arise whereby a bowler is unable to attend the roll off as set down by this nomination form, however he or she would still like to be in contention for place in the QueenslandYouth Challenge Team. Whilst it is preferable that ALL nominees attend the roll off, TBAQ are practical enough to know that this is not always possible. ANY bowler seeking to be exempted from participating in the 16 game event needs to submit a written request for exemption to the State Youth Committee.
The application should contain the full nomination entry and fee, and a detailed reason s to why the exemption is required. VERIFIABLE CONFIRMATION MUST BE ATTACHED, IE MEDICAL CERTIFICATE, LETTER ETC.
Appeals Process (in accordance with paragraph 5.0 of TBA’s State Team Selection Policy):
a) Any bowler who applies for a position as a part of the 2019 Queensland Youth team and is not successful may lodge an appeal against their non-selection.
b) This initial appeal must be lodged in writing and received within 24 hours after the announcement of the team or position.
c) Should an appeal be lodged, the status of the announced team or position remains unconfirmed until the appeals process has been completed.
d) Appeals in the first instance should be lodged with the TBAQ Youth Committee.
e) Should the appellant be dissatisfied with the answer received from the Committee, they should lodge a further appeal with TBAQ within seven (7) days of the receipt of the Committee’s written decision. Such appeal will be dealt with by TBAQ’s Appeals Panel for this purpose, comprising Mr Brian Bates and Ms Gail Torrens.
f) Should the appellant be dissatisfied with the answer received from TBAQ, they should lodge a further and final appeal with TBA within seven (7) days of receipt of TBAQ’s written decision.
g) All communications between the appellant and the relevant Committee must be in writing. Alleged verbal communications will not be taken into consideration in any appeals.
h) Only those persons comprising the Appeals Panel will be permitted to sit on the panel. Others with relevant information can be called to address the panel with their witness statements. Persons associated with the original selection will not be permitted to make any attempt to sway the appeals process, either by communicating with the Independent Panel members or addressing the panel prior to any proceedings taking place where that person is called to give testimony.
Draft provisions as per TBA -
4.0 General
4.1 If a State has eligible bowlers, those bowlers can choose whether or not to nominate for
the Draft.
4.2 If an eligible bowler nominates for the Draft they will become a part of the Draft System,
but will be able to be recalled by their State if required, providing they have not been
chosen by another State when the recall request is made.
4.3 If an eligible bowler who does not make the final team chooses not to nominate for the
Draft, they will be able to be recalled by their own State if required. They will not be eligible
to represent any other State unless the Draft list is depleted.
Nomination and Eligibility Criteria:
- Eligibility is open to all 2018TBA registered players, residing in Queensland (including Tweed Heads). All nominations will be checked against TBA membership records once nominations have closed to verify current membership.
- Participants must have been resident in Queensland for at least six (6) months prior to the first day of the trials.
- All bowlers MUST be permanent members of a current 2018 league, having bowled a minimum of 24 games in a league in a TBA registered centre. League games completed as pre or post bowling DO NOT COUNT towards the number of games bowled.
- Upon qualifying for the Queensland Youth Team, bowlers must continue to bowlleague in a TBA registered centre, must remain a member of the State Training Squad, and must continue to be a member in good standing.
- Any bowler who is NOT in good financial standing with the State Body (TBAQ) will not be permitted to roll off until any outstanding debt is cleared
- Bowlers MUST complete an all events entry in either the 2018 Queensland State Championships OR any 2018 Local Area Association or City Championships.
- Successful bowlers in the 2019 State Teamcanattend one of the 2018 Queensland State Training Squads,– full details of which are available on the TBAQ Events Calendar)
- Bowlers are to adhere to the dress code – men must wear long trousers or dress shorts of one color, but no denim, track pants or Cargos. Ladies may wear skirts, skorts, dress shorts or ¾ pants. Bowlers must also wear a recognized bowling shirt.
- Full payment of nomination fee is required when lodging entry forms. Payment is to be made via bank deposit only to the relevant bank accounts as detailed previously.
- THERE WILL BE NO FACILITY FOR BOWLERS TO PAY FOR THEIR ENTRIES AT THE ROLL OFF – ONLY THOSE BOWLERS THATPAYMENTS HAVE CLEARED THE BANK ACCOUNT PRIOR TO THE 2nd May WILL BE PERMITTED TO COMPETE.
- Bowlers must be available for training sessions as advised by the Coach.Preparation non compliance will see the reserve offered the position within the team as a replacement, and the exiting bowlers payments refunded.
- Bowlers must bowl Sharp Champion of Champions or Rachuig and National Youth Cup prior to the National Youth Challenge.
- Bowlers are required to arrive at the Nominated Accommodation by 4.30pm on Friday prior to Youth nationals.
Tournament Rules:
- Bowlers are required to check in at the tournament room prior to the designated check-in time. Any queries or protests must be lodged at this time. Bowling will commence after briefing.
- All Ten Pin Bowling Australia rules and regulations shall apply at all times.
- Any bowler wishing to leave the lanes during the event must first obtain the permission of an event official. Any disputes or complaints regarding on-lane activities must be lodged with the Official within fifteen minutes of any alleged infringement. The TD and tournament officials will deal with any disputes or complaints. Their decision will be final.
- Mobile phones are NOT permitted in the players’ area, and must be switched off whilst bowling.
5.Any matter not covered by these rules, and the preceding rules of conduct will be decided upon by the Tournament Director.
2019National Youth Challenge
The 2019National Youth Challenge will be conducted at win city bowl werribee.
All bowlers will make their own arrangements for their travel and equipment transfer to the bowl. Transport from the airport will be available to the bowlers who match flight times with driver.
For planning purposes, key dates are as follows:

The following is a working total per person for members of the State Team, based on figures from 2014. This figure could change subject to TBA costs being known later in the year.
Approx: $1,400.00 bowl Coaches and Managers to be advised approx $800.00 (coaches and managers no lineage)(2018 was $1250 for bowlers)
2019 will have 1 coach and 1 manager.
Extra cost is for bus.
