INSTRUCTIONAL LESSON PLANS

Dates: 10/17/16-10/21/16 Unit: Flag Football

SOLs (or Competencies) Addressed:

1.  Students will perform basic motor and manipulative skills. They will attain competency in a variety of physical activities and proficiency in a few select complex motor and sports activities.

2.  Demonstrates understanding of movement concepts, principles, strategies, and tactics as they apply to the learning and performance of physical activities.

Learning Objectives:

1.  Students have an opportunity to practice their chasing/fleeing skills

2.  Students have an opportunity to incorporates basic strategy essential for team sports

3.  Students have an opportunity to work on cooperation and collaboration

Instructional Activities:

Divide the class into two teams. The teams will play flag football. The 1st team on offense get 4 downs to get 20 yards if the offense get 20 yards then they get another 4 downs to score. If the offense fails to reach the 20 yard line or the endzone in 4 plays they go on defense. Every touch down is worth 2 points and if the defense keeps the offense from scoring it is 1 point

Assessment Activities:

1.  Students will come up with strategies as a team and evaluate their success

2.  Students will set different tasks for teammates to ensure success as a team.
