SCHOOL WIDE READING GOAL: 50,000 books

If our school meets the school wide reading goal, we will be awarded with a school wide assembly which will feature an exciting program that the students will enjoy!

CLASSROOM READING GOALS:

Grades K-3: 1,500 books read by Mid-May

Grades 4 & 5: 1,000 books read by Mid May

CLASSROOM INCENTIVES

K-3: When your class has read 750 books, your class will be awarded a Dog Bone Trophy. When your class has reached the goal of 1,500 books, the class will be awarded custody of a Bull Pup Mascot.

4 & 5: When your class has read 500 books, your class will be awarded a Dog Bone Trophy. When your class has reached the goal of 1,000 books, the class will be awarded custody of a Bull Pup Mascot.

PRE-K: Pre K classes will be awarded custody of a Bull Pup Mascot when every student in class has returned a Read Aloud Record form showing that 50 books have been read aloud to the students at home.

PRE K & Kindergarten: All parents in Pre K and K will have an opportunity to participate in the TES Read Aloud Program. A certificate will be awarded to the parent when their Read Aloud form is completed at the upcoming Awards Ceremony.

STUDENT INCENTIVES:

Dog Tags:

Students will receive a Reading Dog Tag when they have earned 10 AR points, 25 AR points, 50 AR points, and 100 AR points. Students may record these books on the same form they are using to earn other individual awards, class awards, and to help us reach our school wide reading goal.

Superintendent’s Reading Challenge:

Students will receive a Superintendent’s Reading Challenge Certificate for reading 25 books during the school year. This will be awarded at the end of the year.

Principal’s Award:

Students will receive the Principal’s Award if they meet the following requirements and documentation is provided by May 9th. This will be awarded at the end of the year.

Students reading on K-3 level: 30 fiction + 20 non-fiction.

Students reading on 4-5 level: 20 fiction + 15 non-fiction.

Students reading on 6-8 level: 9 fiction + 6 non-fiction.

Tavares Elementary Honor Circle Award:

Students will receive the Tavares Honor Circle Award if they meet the following requirements and documentation is provided by May 9th. This will be awarded at the end of the year.

Students reading on K-3 level: 35 fiction + 35 non-fiction.

Students reading on 4-5 level: 25 fiction + 25 non-fiction.

Students reading on 6-8 level: 15 fiction + 15 non-fiction.

To receive both of the awards above:

Students will receive both of the above awards if they meet the following requirements and documentation is provided by May 9th.

Students reading on K-3 level: 65 fiction + 55 non-fiction.

Students reading on 4-5 level: 45 fiction + 40 non-fiction.

Students reading on 6-8 level: 24 fiction + 21 non-fiction.
