Taste of Carrollton 2016

Guidelines and Application

Dear Restaurateurs & Caterers,

We would like to invite you to participate in this year’s 25th annual Taste of Carrollton. Our event is scheduled for Thursday September 15th, 2016. This event is hosted by the Carrollton Main Street Program. We are a nonprofit organization that was created for the preservation of our historic downtown and the Taste of Carrollton is our primary fund raiser. Last year we were fortunate enough to have over 35 restaurants participate and crowds of around 4,000 people. We anticipate this year’s event being even bigger and we would love to have your restaurant be a part of this effective and affordable advertising opportunity. Please use this event as a chance to highlight menu favorites or to introduce new menu items to the public. There is NO entry fee to participate, we appreciate your time and please feel free to contact me with any questions you may have.

The Event: ThursdaySeptember 15, 2016 from 5:30-8pm. The event will kick off precisely at 5:30 pm. Set up begins at 3pm and everyone must be set up no later than 5pm.

Restaurant’s Menu: Each restaurant should present three to four items with the prices ranging from 1-4 tickets. Portions should be small so visitors can enjoy a wide variety of food. We ask that you plan on bringing between 1,000-1,500 bite sized servings. Restaurants are allowed to serve any non alcoholic beverages of their choosing (i.e. coke, diet coke, tea, water, smoothies, lemonade)

Tickets: Tickets are used as a form of currency at our Taste of Carrollton event. These tickets will have a $1.00 value. Tickets are purchased and then redeemed at individual restaurant booths for menu items and cash must NOT be accepted. We will be selling tickets at the event and pre-selling the tickets at some of our downtown merchant’s stores. We will provide containers for the restaurants to collect the tickets in.

Proceeds: We are able to calculate the proceeds for each individual restaurant by counting the amount of tickets they collect during the event. 75% of each restaurant’s proceeds are retained by Main Street to fund our program. Restaurants then have the option of keeping 25% of their total proceeds or donating it back to the Main Street Program. Main Street is a nonprofit organization and money raised from this event will go back into the community to fund programs such as the fall festival and downtown revitalization projects. The tickets must be turned into Main Street at the conclusion of TOC. Checks will be written to the restaurants and will be mailed to you no later than two weeks after the event.

Entry Requirements: Only licensed and operating restaurants or caterers can participate in TOC. A copy of your business license & Safe Serve certification is required with you application

Power is limited on a first come first serve basis and is limited to only 20 amps.

Event Set-up: All restaurants will receive their booth assignments at least one week prior to the event. Set up will begin on Thursday afternoon at 3:00pm and restaurants should be prepared to serve. Restaurants will be able to drive onto the square to deliver food and equipment. All vehicles must be removed by 4:30pm and parked in the rear parking lots or the parking deck. Restaurants may begin dismantling booths at 8pm and should be done with clean up no later than 9:30pm. Restaurants are responsible for leaving their area clean and removing trash.

Cutlery: You will be responsible for providing enough plates, napkins and forks for the entire event.

AWARDS! This year will be our 7th year for our annual Taste of Carrollton Awards. There are three different awards: “Best Restaurant Around Town, Best Restaurant on the Square and Restaurant of the Year.” Best Restaurant Around and Best Restaurant on the Square will be judges solely on taste. However, Restaurant of the Year is based on 3 Credentials: Number of tickets collected, overall taste of food and overall presentation of your booth space. The winners of each category will receive a plaque.

For any additional questions regarding this event please contact the Main Street office.

Thanks!
