TAMIYA CUP 2015 – SOUTH AFRICA

General Race Regulations for all classes

1.  The entry fee per class entry will be R60 for the 2015 season.

2.  The 2015 season will have 7 classes as listed below;

1.  Stock Touring Class

2.  Open Stock Class

3.  FWD Touring Class

4.  Mini Chassis Class

5.  Formula 1 Class

6.  Super Stock Class

7.  4wd GT Class

3.  In all classes, except 4wd GT, should the winner of a class in the 2014 regionals win the same class in the 2015 regionals, then that driver may not take part in that class for the next season.

4.  Participation in a minimum of 4 out of 7 regional events is required to become eligible to receive regional trophies for the given season and will earn a driver an automatic invitation to the final. As organisers of the series we may use our discretion to invite drivers to the final who have competed in fewer than the required number of events. These drivers will not be eligible for regional trophies.

5.  Cars must be built following the instruction manual with original Tamiya parts. Any cars, chassis kits, spare parts or hop-up options, which are not yet available in South Africa, will not be permitted in Tamiya Cup events.

6.  All parts must be used as supplied in the box and/or cut as outlined.

7.  Modifications which destroy the original form of the car are not allowed. In all classes the tyre/rim must stay within the body shell, except Formula 1.

8.  Although the spares lists do not list all the parts permitted, you may use the spare parts supplied in the original kit. For all other spare parts and Hop-Up options, please refer to the separately available spares lists for each chassis type.

9.  Please note that allowable spares detailed in the individual car regulations, over-rides the separately available spares list. For example - Only the 3 types of tyres listed in the Stock Touring regulations are allowed in this class.

10.  Radios must be crystal interchangeable. All drivers must have a minimum of three frequencies available. 2.4GHz transmitters are allowed.

11.  Tyre additives are allowed in all classes, except Stock Touring. These must be odourless and conform to the required safety standards.

12.  Each race will be of 5 minutes duration, plus the time to complete the last lap.

13.  Personal transponders may be used where they can be accommodated, however, the event organizer will not be held responsible for any problem that may occur as a result of their use. If there is a problem and your car is not picked up for whatever reason, the race organiser may disregard your race at their discretion.

14.  Race numbers are to be handed out by the race organiser at each event and must be appear on both the front and side of the vehicle in each and every race. The race organiser may disqualify a driver from a race if their car does not reflect the number that was handed out to them.

15.  Any modifications not described in the regulations are not allowed.

16.  Any other issues not clarified in the regulations shall be handled at the discretion of the race organiser.

17.  Motors must be from Tamiya.

18.  Drivers are to use their own batteries and motors for the regional events, except for Stock Touring where motors are handed out at each event.

19.  Motors will ONLY be supplied for the Stock Touring class by the race organiser at the National Final event.

20.  Regarding the 49***/84*** series spare parts, these are only allowed if it is the “colour” version of a spare or Hop-Up part, as listed in the Parts List.

21.  Li-Po battery voltages will be checked randomly before every race, the maximum allowable voltage for a charged battery pack is 8.44v. If a driver is found to have a higher voltage than stated he or she will be disqualified from that race.

Car Regulations for Stock Touring Class

1.  Only TT01, TT01E, TT01E R and TT01 R chassis’ are permitted in this class.

2.  Only spare parts and Hop-Up option parts for these chassis types currently available in South Africa are allowed, and must be used as originally intended.

3.  The list of allowable spares / Hop-Up option parts that can be used in this class are limited to the following;

4.  The speed controller is limited to a TEU-101BK/104BK/105BK or TBLE-02S (Item 45057) electronic speed control, as supplied in the original kit.

5.  The motor is limited to a standard, 2-slot, Johnson 540 motor. Any attempt to modify or to influence the ability of the motor is NOT allowed. (eg. No com-drops, No cutting of brushes, Original screws must be used. etc), however the wires of the speed controller can be soldered directly onto the motor.

6.  Only standard stick type (round case, not square or rectangular) Ni-Cd, Ni-Mh 7.2v batteries or Li-Po 7.4v batteries UP TO 4000mah, MAX discharge of 40C are allowed. Battery wires can be modified at the bottom of the connector to accept other types of speed controller connectors. Wire length must exceed 3cm. Please note that modification of the battery compartment is NOT allowed.

7.  Car does not have to be equipped with cockpit detail and a driver figure.

8.  Minimum weight of the car ready to run is to be 1,400g, without a transponder.

9.  Clearance under main chassis to exceed 5mm after the race.

10.  TT01 Spur Gear Set (53665) 55T is allowed, up to a 25T pinion gear.

11.  Tyres are limited to 50419 Celica Racing Radial Tyres, 50454 Racing Slick Tyres and 50810 Racing Semi-Slick Tyres. Please note that the TT01R and TT01E R chassis’ must also use the above tyres with 26mm wheels.

12.  Tyre additives and tyre warmers are not allowed.

Car Regulations for Open Stock Class

1.  Only TT01, TT01E and TT02 chassis’ are permitted in this class (Including Pro, R and S chassis’ types).

2.  Only spare parts and Hop-Up option parts for these chassis types currently available in South Africa are allowed, and must be used as originally intended.

3.  Only Ni-Cd, Ni-Mh 7.2v batteries or Li-Po 7.4v batteries UP TO 4000mah, MAX discharge of 40C are allowed. Battery wires can be modified at the bottom of the connector to accept other types of speed controller connectors. Wire length must exceed 3cm. Please note that modification of the battery compartment is NOT allowed.

4.  Any electronic speed control is permitted to be used with the brushed motors listed below. Please note that the brushless motors below may only be used in conjunction with the following Tamiya speed controls;

·  45038 - Brushless ESC 01

·  45047 - Brushless ESC 01S – Sensored

·  45057 - Brushless ESC 02S – Sensored

·  45066 - Brushless ESC-03S - Sensored

5.  Only the following Tamiya motors will be allowed;

·  53689 - 540-J Motor

·  53068 - Sport Tuned Motor

·  53983 - Lightly Tuned Motor

·  54181 - Brushless Motor 18T (Sensor-less)

·  54275 - Brushless Motor 16T (Sensored)

6.  Motor brushes, if applicable, must be from Tamiya.

7.  Any attempt to modify or to influence the ability of the motor is NOT allowed. (eg. No com-drops, No cutting of brushes, Original screws must be used. etc), however the wires of the speed controller can be soldered directly onto the motor.

8.  Car does not have to be equipped with cockpit detail and a driver figure.

9.  Minimum weight of the car ready to run is to be 1,400g, without a transponder.

10.  Clearance under main chassis to exceed 5mm after the race.

Car Regulations for FWD Touring Class

1.  Only FF02, FF03 and FF04 chassis’ are permitted in this class (Including Pro, Evo and R chassis’ types). Please note that the availability of FF02 spares can not be guaranteed.

2.  Only spare parts and Hop-Up option parts for these chassis types currently available in South Africa are allowed, and must be used as originally intended.

3.  Only Ni-Cd, Ni-Mh 7.2v batteries or Li-Po 7.4v batteries are allowed (there is no restriction on capacity or C rating). Battery wires can be modified at the bottom of the connector to accept other types of speed controller connectors. Wire length must exceed 3cm. Please note that modification of the battery compartment is NOT allowed.

4.  Any electronic speed control is permitted to be used with the brushed motors listed below. Please note that the brushless motors below may only be used in conjunction with the following Tamiya speed controls;

·  45038 - Brushless ESC 01

·  45047 - Brushless ESC 01S – Sensored

·  45057 - Brushless ESC 02S – Sensored

·  45066 - Brushless ESC-03S - Sensored

5.  Only the following Tamiya motors will be allowed;

·  53068 – Sport Tuned Motor

·  54251 – Brushless Motor 14T (Sensor-less)

·  54273 – Brushless Motor 12.5 (Sensored)

6.  Any attempt to modify or to influence the ability of the motor is NOT allowed. (eg. No com-drops, No cutting of brushes, Original screws must be used. etc), however the wires of the speed controller can be soldered directly onto the motor.

7.  ONLY the following Gear Ratios may be used in conjunction with the 14T & 12.5T Brushless motors (The gearing for Sport Tuned motors will remain open). Please also note that the gear cover must be used at all times.

·  Pinion 48T + Spur Gear 96T : 5.20

·  Pinion 41T + Spur Gear 102T : 6.47

·  Pinion 27T + Spur Gear 68T : 6.55

·  Pinion 38T + Spur Gear 96T : 6.57

·  Pinion 40T + Spur Gear 102T : 6.63

8.  Car does not have to be equipped with cockpit detail and a driver figure.

9.  Minimum weight of the car ready to run is to be 1,450g, without a transponder.

10.  Clearance under main chassis to exceed 5mm after the race.

11.  You may use any Tamiya 1/10 on-road body except for the Subaru Legacy B4 body and it’s variants. The body must fit the chassis properly and provide adequate clearance of the chassis components (especially the motor and gearbox).

Car Regulations for Mini Chassis Class

1.  Only M03, M04, M05, M05 Ver. II and M06 series chassis’ are permitted in this class (Including Pro chassis’).

2.  Only spare parts and Hop-Up option parts for these chassis types currently available in South Africa are allowed, and must be used as originally intended.

3.  Only Ni-Cd, Ni-Mh 7.2v batteries or Li-Po 7.4v batteries are allowed (there is no restriction on capacity or C rating). Battery wires can be modified at the bottom of the connector to accept other types of speed controller connectors. Wire length must exceed 3cm. Please note that modification of the battery compartment is NOT allowed.

4.  Any electronic speed control is permitted to be used with the brushed motors listed below. Please note that the brushless motors below may only be used in conjunction with the following Tamiya speed controls;

·  45038 - Brushless ESC 01

·  45047 - Brushless ESC 01S – Sensored

·  45057 - Brushless ESC 02S – Sensored

·  45066 - Brushless ESC-03S – Sensored

5.  Only the following Tamiya motors will be allowed;

·  53068 – Sport Tuned Motor

·  53983 – Lightly Tuned Motor

·  54251 – Brushless Motor 14T (Sensor-less)

·  54273 – Brushless Motor 12.5 (Sensored)

6.  Motor brushes, if applicable, must be from Tamiya.

7.  Any attempt to moify or to influence the ability of the motor is NOT allowed. (eg. No com-drops, No cutting of brushes, Original screws must be used. etc), however the wires of the speed controller can be soldered directly onto the motor.

8.  Car does not have to retain the original wheel drive concept. Drivers can choose either FWD or RWD configurations regardless of car body. 4wd or twin motor configuration will not be allowed.

9.  Speed Tuned Gear – 16, 18 and 20T pinions are allowed for the M03, M05 and M06 chassis. Up to 19T pinion is allowed for the M04 chassis, but in the case of a 26D tyre being used the pinion size is limited to a 17T.

10.  Minimum weight of the car ready to run is to be 1,200g, without a transponder.
