General description

This lightweight, compact talkingtravel alarm clock announces the time in a synthetic female American voice at the touch of a button. Other features include a talking calendar, optional hourly chime and announcement, countdown timer and an alarm. Small enough to fit into a pocket or handbag this is the ideal travel clock.

Orientation

This clock is rectangular in shape and measures approximately 5.7cm (2.25 inches) wideby 7.5cm (3 inches) high and 1.7cm (0.6 inches) deep. The clock has a hingedcover, which when closed protects the display and buttons on the front of the clock, and when opened acts as a stand.

Front

Open the cover on the front of the clock(opening towards top of clock). This reveals the LCD display that fills the top half of the clock; it’s rectangular in shape and has a thick black surround that contrasts against the silver casing. The time digits are shown at the top of the display and measure approximately 1cm (0.4 inches) high. Below the time and starting from left to right is the date information. This is displayed as month (i.e.04 for April), date (05 for 5thday) and year (14 for 2014). To the far right is the day of the week, abbreviated to the first two letters of the day, such as FR for Friday.

Below the display are four thin, rectangular, horizontally positioned buttons. Each button is situated within a slight recess from the case, and these buttons from left to right are as follows: MODE, SET, CALENDAR and TALK. These buttons will be referred to throughout these instructions in the order from left to right as numbers 1 to 4, with Mode as 1 and Talk as 4.

Back

Close the cover and then turn the clock over so the back is facing towards you and you will notice in the middle is a small area of tactile ridges. This is the clock's speaker.

Towards the bottom edge of the clock is the battery compartment. This can be removed by applying gentle but firm downward pressure and then sliding the battery cover down and away from the clock.

Top edge

Place the clock so the front face is towards you. On the top edge there is a large button which covers most of this area. This is the TALK button, which when pressed, announces the time. This button can also be pressed when the cover is closed and the other buttons are hidden, so you can still easily tell the time.

Using the clock

Installing and replacing the batteries

Use 2x AAA (1.5V) alkaline batteries in this clock. Remove the batteries if the clock is stored or not in use for an extended period. Remove exhausted batteries from the product.

Turn the clock over so the back is facing towards you and the TALK button is furthest away from you. Locate the battery cover, which is situated towards the bottom edge and should be nearest to you. Applygentle but firm downward pressure to the cover and slide it down and away from the clock. Insert each battery noting the correct polarity, with the negative (flat) end of each battery positioned against the spring. Once all batteries are inserted re-attach the battery cover. You will know that the cover is correctly located because it will make a clear, positive ‘click’ sound when in place securely.
