●Profile photo should be facing forward, preferably a school photo. This may be used as a Student ID

●Other photos must include immediate family members and friends

●Include photos of you participating in any school events, family vacations, extracurricular activities

Letter to Host Family- **THEY WILL HAVE A CHANCE TO EDIT THIS LATER- URGE THEM TO WRITE ANYTHING AND SUBMIT.

●This is an actual letter that will go to your host family, so think about what you want them to know about you .

●A chance for students to introduce themselves, their interests, things they like to do.

○How would your family and friends describe you?

○How would you describe your relationship with your family and friends?

○What is your role in your family?

○In what types of situations do you turn to your parents for help or advice?

○Describe your major interests and activities and how often you do them (studying, sports, community activities, etc).

○What is your motivation to go abroad?

○What are your personal goals for your time abroad?

○How do you manage challenges in your life?

○What is an obstacle you've faced in your life, and how did you deal with it?

○What are your future education or career plans?

Finance Information

$200 Application Fee is paid after the first 4 tasks are complete and after a specialist gets the student or parent on the phone to confirm eligibility. They will not be able to work on the supporting documents (‘Next Steps’) until the app fee is paid.

●$500 Deposit towards program fee is paid after the specialist does an initial review of the completed application

●Entire remaining program fee should be paid 60 days before departure.

●This is a great time to talk to students about local scholarships available in their area!

Included in Program Fee:

●International round trip airfare from the dept city

●Placement in a carefully screened host fam or accommodations in a dorm

●enrollment in your school or volunteer project

●orientations before and during program

●secondary medical insurance

●visa support and assistance

●support throughout the entirety of your program

●access to 24-hour emergency assistance line

Additional costs that participants and their families should budget for include:

●domestic airfare to the international departure city

●visa and passport fees (which range from $0 -$1,000)

●spending money while on program

○All meals in the home are covered by host family or provided in dorm cafeteria so stus usually spend between $100-$300 per month depending on their activities.

What do I do if a student is outside of the age range?

●Don’t worry about it! Encourage them to submit their Get Started Tasks as soon as possible! Once they finish these tasks, the phone call with the Study Abroad Specialist will confirm their eligibility before making any financial commitment.
