COURSE OBJECTIVE:

Since economic aspects are important for the production control in mechanical engineering, during the subject students are familiarized with basic knowledge in the following areas, such as: operations management, production facility management and shop floor control, technology management and management of supporting processes. The course also gives information about „Lean Manufacturing“, „Toyota Production System“ (JIT, JIDOKA, KAIZEN). Production systems like MRP, MRPII, OPT, KANBAN are also a part of the knowledge base.

LECTURES:

1.  Fundamentals of management. Development of management. Development of the production management. Managerial functions. Matrix of the managerial functions. Conflicting requirements about the production control. Economic producer´s factors. Three main processes at producer. Material and information flow. Self-financing.

2.  Conceptions of the production control. Factory production. Customer controlled production. Lean production. Procedural and operative production control approaches. Production control by pressure or stroke? Economic factors to evaluate production.

3.  Toyota production system model. Model of the lean production. Managerial conceptions: JIT, JIDOKA, KAIZEN. TPS philosophy. Values, fundamentals and principles of the lean production. Lean production economy. Lean plant. REE. Diamond REE. Innovation.

4.  Operating production time. Cycle time control. Elimination of the procedural loses. Main production process. Coordination of the pre-production stages. Production, produce, product. Process, project, operation. DFMA. Final products calculations. Costing system.

5.  Technical and technology management. Design management. Development of the new products. Production rationalization. DFMA. Technical, production and products documentation. Processing operations. Standards of material expenditure and performance. Production-technological subsystem.

6.  Technical production servicing. Ancillary and service processes. Maintenance of machines and devices. Provision of the production quality. Material-technical supply. Energy economy. Care of staff.

7.  Operative planning and production control (OPPC). Type methods of OPPC. Production planning functions. Manufacturing resources. Provision of the capacity, material and manufacturing resources.

8.  Production planning systems (MRP, CRP, MRPII, CIM). Scheduling. Normative basis OPPC (bill of materials, NSM, NSV, available capacity, balance,…). Balance equation. Managerial conceptions (systems) to improve producer production ability. OPT, TOC. Kanban. Difference among concepts: MRPII – OPT – Kanban.

9.  Gemba management. Spatial and time structure of the production process. Machine cycle, cycle time, lead time. Procedural standardization. Layout, SMED, TPM. Work self-controlling in the cell manufacturing.

10.  Workshop production management. Gemba. Production schedule. Team organization of work. Role of master. Visual control. Change and deviation control. Improving. Economy of the gemba.

2.  Economic producer´s factors. Economic factors to evaluate production. Economy of the lean production.

3.  Three main processes at producer. Coordination of the pre-production stages. Technical production servicing. DFMA.

4.  Presentation and handover of the semester work (1st part of it).

5.  Operative production control. Time horizon. Planning calendar. Production planning functions. Provision of the material resources.

6.  Operative production planning. Provision of the capacity resources. Provision of the other manufacturing resources. TOV.

7.  Presentation and handover of the semester work (2nd part of it).

8.  Workshop production management. Spatial and time structure of the production process. Production documentation. Labour productivity.

9.  Gemba kaizen.

10.  Presentation and handover of the semester work (3rd and 4th part of it). Test.
