Sussex WCA County Cricket Trials 2014 / 2015
Dear Club & School
This winter the Sussex Women’s Cricket Association will be holding County Cricket trials for girls, and we are looking for new players who you believe have the skills and ability to play Cricket for Sussex.
On Saturday 27th & Sunday 28th September we will be looking at nominated players who DID NOT play County Cricket this year. We will then select players from this day who we would like to see again and they will be invited to a further trial along with County players from the 2014 season on Saturday 11th & Sunday 12th October. Please only send nominations for players who did NOT play for Sussex in 2014.
The Sussex Women’s Cricket Association run five age group squads as per below and are looking for nominations for these age groups:
U11 (School year 6 and below from September 1st 2014) U12 (School year 7 from September 1st 2014)
U13 (School year 8 from September 1st 2014) U15 (School year 9 & 10 from September 1st 2014)
U17 (School year 11 & first year sixth form college from September 1st 2014)
Attached is a nomination form, if you have any players in your club or school who you believe have the capability to play County Cricket then please fill in the attached nomination form with all the details completed. Please note players can only be nominated by their club or school. Also attached is a talent profile form (one for U11 – U13 players and a separate one for U15 – U17 players). Please can you make sure that this form is completed for every player and sent with the nomination form so it gives the selectors some idea of where the player is in terms of their cricket ability, before they come to the trial. There will be a charge of £5 for each nomination; this is to go towards the cost of facilities as in previous years some people nominated have not attended which has caused unnecessary expense. Please note that players who played for Sussex in 2014 will also have to trial again and will also be charged £5.
Please note that if a player is selected for the County squads, those in the U12s, 13s, 15s & 17s will have a fitness assessment on Sunday 19th October and each player MUST attend. Also any player selected for the County squads MUST attend at least 75% of the training sessions otherwise they will be taken off the programme.
Please can all nomination forms and talent profile forms with a cheque for £5 made payable to “Sussex WCA” be sent to; Charlotte Burton, SWCA Director of Cricket, Sussex Cricket Board, The Brighton&HoveJobs.Com County Ground, Eaton Road, Hove, East Sussex, BN3 3AN. Nominations have to be in no later than Monday 15th September.
A letter will be sent to all nominated players; however please can you make sure that each person nominated is aware of the dates for the trials when you send in the nomination form. Times will be confirmed to the players.
