CES PTO MINUTES – January 8th, 2013

The Report is available for review. Report shows current balances to date.
Yearbook bill paid in full. ($3,652.64)
Holiday Bazaar – Income: $582.00
A donation of $150.00 was made from the Schodack Police Dept. which was used to buy much needed gifts for men.
$100.00 will be kept in Holiday Bazaar budget for 2013-2014 year
Remainder of income will be available for Principal’s discretionary fund, which will include the $20.00/month for teacher meeting prize as of February 2013.
Thank You: Mrs. Cook would like to thank Sue Clickner for organizing the Penny War prizes.
Upcoming Events:
4th & 5th Grade Fun Night in January– Laser Tag, Zumba, and make your own airplanes, land it on an airstrip, looking for board game donations. Popcorn, snacks & drinks will be served.
Family Movie Night and Book Exchange - January 18th Stephanie Daly needs volunteers for book exchange.
Science Fair – Chair Carissa Zuniga and Mr. Chevrier will restructure letter home to parents to make it clear it is still a fun family oriented event!
Teacher Representative:
Mrs. Ciampoli and Mr. Chevrier will make a brief survey for teachers regarding the best use of the “dormant” money in the amount of $6,000.00.
Mrs. Ciampoli is questioning if there is enough in the field trip budget as the second grade would like to go to CMOST twice this year.
*Parent suggestion that the teachers be given a deadline to submit for field trip funds so the PTO can get an idea of funds needed.
Chairs Needed:Lip Sync will be cancelled if no parent volunteers for Chair Position.
*Parent suggestion to send letter out breaking down the jobs involved with Lip Sync.
Mr. Horan, Superintendent:
Mr. Horan needs recruits for the Community Budget Advisory Team. Members of the team will be educated on all aspects of building a school budget and become an advocate for the budget.
Mr. Horan provided a hand-out regarding the January 31st meeting, “Running out of Time & Options”, which will be held at Columbia High. Mr. Horan is inviting parents, especially elementary school parents to participate and get involved.
Relay for Life, Carol-Jo Pusateri & Andria Scarchilli
The Relay for Life will tie into CES Field Day June 5th, 2013.
CES students will have a fun filled field day,and then have the opportunity to return in the evening to participate in the Relay. There will be educational activities, cancer awareness programs, entertainment & fun.
All three schools will be involved and we will raise money as a community.
There will be a need for MANY volunteers for this event. Think about signing up for one of the following Subcommittees: Activities/Entertainment, Survivor/Caregiver, Food, Sponsorship, Volunteer/Other.
Principal’s Corner:
Happy New Year!
There will be a letter coming home regarding the role of CES to ensure safety in our school. Parents are encouraged to speak to their children of the importance of the drills & following instructions throughout.
Open Discussion:
Artworks Night – Chair Kim Fraser asked Board Members for approval of the contract. Board approved the go ahead for Chair to sign contract.
