Mrs. Albury made a motion to approve the consent agenda. Mr. Helms seconded the motion and it was carried.

G.  Public Forum

Jack Solak 2408 SS he thanked everyone for the sand push, it really helps.

Chris Medlin stated he thanked the police department for the disc golf course. They have really worked hard on this course. It is greatly appreciated!

H.  Council Forum

Mr. Curley stated he thanked everyone for coming out. The beach push looks good, the contractors are about half way through. The push has been very effective and is continuing on a timely manner.

Mr. Fowler stated he thanked everyone for coming out. He stated there are many activities at the community center. The woman's expo went over very well, he thanked Lori and Susan for the professional workmanship.

Mrs. Albury stated she was so happy to see everyone. She encouraged anyone with any problems to please bring them to them.

Mrs. Batts stated Surf City has always been her home and she was honored to accept this position.

Mr. Helms stated he thanked everyone for coming out tonight. He stated the Fire Department is partnering with the Red Cross to install 150 smoke detectors. This would be throughout the community not just in Surf City. Recently a smoke detector they installed saved a family’s life on Perkins Drive. On March 22nd they are starting a new program at the Community Center, it is Read with a Fire Fighter. He urged the public to bring their kids out for free fire awareness.

Mayor stated he has taken the job of Mayor and feels very comfortable doing so, this is all because of the employees. He discussed how great all our town departments are, that the town is truly blessed. Our plan is to continue great business. The Police department has coffee with a cop once a month. The police department has also been working on their upcoming budget. The Surf City disc golf course is now open, and Chief Ron Shanahan and Jeff Johnson have really worked hard on it. We are currently doing interviews for new police position.

I.  Manager Reports

Mr. Bergman stated Emergency Management has ask the council to approve a resolution to designate Ashley and himself to approve the paperwork.

Mr. Fowler made a motion to approve the resolution. Mrs. Albury seconded the motion and it was carried.

Mr. Bergman stated they have diligently been working on the public parking issues. The lot behind the Ward building is being prepped for public parking for this summer. Previously, we have spoken about the crosswalks on the Onslow County end of town. We will be adding those signs as soon as we get the encroachment agreements back from NCDOT.
