This SVQ is based on standards developed by the Engineering Construction Industry Training Board (ECITB). ECITB draws its membership from the engineering construction industry.

Structure of the SVQ

The way the SVQ is made up is shown below. The unit title appears in bold and the elements that make up each unit are listed under the unit title.

  1. Candidates proposing to follow a Labourer career path would be advised to take optional units “Move engineering loads by manual operations”, “Re-instate the work area after completing engineering activities” plus any 2 other optional units.
  1. Candidates proposing to follow a Craft Development career path would be advised to take optional units “Move Engineering Loads by Manual Operations”, “Mark Out to the Required Specification” and “Read and Extract Information from Engineering Drawings and Specifications” plus any 1 other optional unit.
