Support your favorite Fine Arts Student….ME!

Things have gotten off to a great start at my new school, Riverside High School!

Loudoun County provides a lot of support for Fine Arts in our schools with great facilities and instructional items along with many of the supplies, instruments we use. However, as you know Fine Arts students participate in a lot activities both in and out of school. County funds do not cover all of the ongoing costs that make it possible for our kids to participate in this wide range of activities that enrich and complement the academic programs.

Some of these activities can be expensive, so the Riverside High School Fine Arts Boosters raises funds to support students participating in Art, Chorus, Band, Orchestra, Guitar and Theater. We have many events planned during the year, some of which are:

Competitions and assessments in each fine arts discipline
Musicals, Plays, Orchestra/Strings/Choir Concerts and Improv Shows
Additional instruction by outside adjudicators in each performance dicipline
Optional field trips including a department wide excursion to Disney World in Florida. Each fine arts discipline will have a chance to do focused seminars related to their area of study, and we will have fun too!

Especially in this, our first year, we need a lot of support to make this happen, and we are asking for your help! Your tax-deductible contribution will help each discipline make these activities a reality and helps ease the students’ out of pocket costs.

As an example donations of various sizes can be used to fund:

$1 – Pencils for notations on scripts, sheet music and drawing
$3 – 1 Copy of Sheet music (each student participating in an event will need sheet music) – each ensemble has an average of 30-40 participants
$5 – Valve oil, slide grease, cork grease (to keep our band instruments in working condition)
$10 – Sticks, Reeds, Berps (Buzzing device for brass players), specialized paint brush, art canvas
$15 – Theater make-up (1 shade)
$20 – 1 Gallon of Mural Paint
$25 – Reeds, Music
$35 – 1 Box of Wheel Throwing Clay
$40 – Photographic & Digital Print Paper
$50 – Mouthpieces, Reeds, Mallets, Music, Chemicals for Darkroom Photography processing
$100 – Mouthpieces, Reeds, Mallets, Music, Ink jets for large format printers
$150 – 1 Photographic tri-pod
$200 – 1 Theatrical costume
