Key Task: “To develop a team of people capable of tackling the most complex support and advocacy challenges presented by older people and adults who may be vulnerable”

What might you be expected to do:
- Act as the ‘Eyes & Ears’ / ‘Voice’ for older people and adults who may be vulnerable
- Meet with service providers and relevant community and voluntary organisations in target areas, introduce them to Sage and provide information on how people can contact the service
- Attend meetings in facilities such as day centres, primary care centres and nursing homes in a public interest role on behalf of Sage
- Facilitate some meetings of residents groups in nursing homes, and other service user groups.
- Identify issues which may arise for people e.g. their rights and responsibilities in particular situations, explain key documents, identify people who may be particularly vulnerable e.g. people who have no next of kin or who are Wards of Court.
- Gather necessary information if there is a need to refer to an advocate
- As experience is gained and key competencies developed a person might be invited to apply for training as an advocate.
