23 - Body/Doors - Sliding/DOOR, Sliding/Removal

REMOVAL

  1. Apply masking tape to outside surface of quarter panel below the center roller channel, rearward of the door opening.
  1. Release sliding door latch and open door.
  1. Apply masking tape to door jamb area, rearward of the upper roller channel.
  1. Remove upper stop from upper roller arm and remove the upper stop bumper.
  1. Remove sliding door sill plate.
  1. Remove hold open latch striker mounting fasteners (4) and striker (1).
  1. Open quarter glass.
  1. Remove the quarter outside moulding fastener (2).
  1. Using trim stickC-4755or equivalent remove the quarter outside moulding (4) starting at the front of the moulding and working toward the rear of the vehicle, until all clips on the moulding are released from the channel (5) and the tab (3) is fully removed from the hole (1) in the body.
  1. Disconnect the lower drive assembly from the door as necessary
  1. Disconnect the electrical connector (1) from the sliding door.
  1. Remove the cable routing clips (2) from the sliding door and lower hinge and set aside.
  1. Support sliding door on a suitable lifting device with a padded upper surface. The door must be moveable with lifting device in place.
  1. Slide attachment lever (4) forward and pull tab down.

CAUTION: / Do not allow the center hinge roller to contact the quarter glass. Glass can break.
  1. Slide door rearward until the upper sliding door hinge roller disengages from the upper channel.
  1. Continue moving the door rearward until the lower rollers exit the lower track.
  1. Continue moving door rearward until center hinge roller exits the channel.
  1. Remove sliding door from vehicle.

REMOVAL

NOTE: / For the power sliding door procedures, refer to the POWER SLIDING DOOR SYSTEM in the ELECTRICAL section.
  1. Disconnect the battery negative cable.
  1. Remove the mounting fasteners (2) from the door bezel (1).
  1. Remove the bezel from the sliding door.
  1. Remove the mounting fastener (3).
  1. Remove the upper rear molding assembly.
  1. Using a trim stick or equivalent, carefully pry the door trim panel away from the door.
  1. Disconnect the electrical connectors.
  1. Remove the sliding door trim panel from the vehicle.
  1. Remove the door glass.
  1. Remove the front latch screws.
  1. Remove the rear latch screws.
  1. Remove the lower glass channel screws.
  1. Disconnect the lower electrical connector.
  1. Disconnect the exterior door handle cable.
  1. Remove the hold open latch.
  1. Remove the door module mounting fasteners (1).
  1. Remove the door module (3), by lowering the front of the module and raising the rear, while gently pulling the door module up and out.
  1. Disconnect the electrical connector from the cinch motor (1).
  1. Remove the cinch motor mounting fasteners and remove the cinch motor from the latch/lock assembly.
  1. Disconnect the electrical connector from the actuator (2).
  1. Remove the actuator mounting fastener.
  1. Remove the actuator from the latch/lock assembly.
  1. Remove the latch/lock assembly from the door module.

REMOVAL

FIXED GLASS

NOTE: / Left side door shown in illustrations. Right side door similar.
  1. With the door glass in the appropriate position, remove the door trim panel and inner belt molding.
  1. Remove appliques.
  1. Remove the fixed glass mounting fasteners (5) and drop glass to full down position.
  1. Remove lower glass channel attach bolts and rotate channel out of position.
  1. Remove sliding door glass from the opening.
  1. Remove the glass (2) from the mounting bracket (6).

WARNING: / Use care when removing the door glass to prevent breakage. Do not force the glass out of the door. Failure to follow this warning may result in serious injury.

MOVABLE GLASS

NOTE: / If the door glass will not move in the door, remove the regulator motor and manually position the window regulator and glass to the appropriate position.
  1. Remove the rear applique.
  1. Remove the close-out plugs from the door module assembly.


NOTE: / Illustration shown with carrier plate removed for clarity.
  1. Working through the close-out plugs in the door module assembly, carefully back off attach nuts from the glass brackets to disengage from liftplates on the window regulator.


NOTE: / The rear glass run upper fastener (2) is located directly below the sliding door center hinge (1).
  1. Remove the rear glass run channel attachment fasteners (2 and 3).

WARNING: / Use care when removing the door glass to prevent breakage. Do not force the glass out of the door. Failure to follow this warning may result in serious injury.
  1. Push the glass run channel (1) rearward to allow the glass (2) clearance to be removed.
  1. Tip the top edge of glass (1) outward and then lift the glass out of the opening.
  1. Remove the sliding door glass from the window opening.
