Studio Art is the introductory course to Art. This course is designed to teach students a variety of techniques, formal elements and media along with artist that use them, giving students a basic understanding of how the arts work.
Supplies– Supplies will be due by the first week of classes.
*All materials are available to be purchased at Blick Art Supplies as a class pack with a 40% discount automatically given for all Sewanhaka Students.
- 9x12 spiral bound sketchbook
- 1 dozen of no. 2 Ticonderoga pencils
- 1 box of Crayola colored pencils (24 pack)
- 3 erasers (white)
- Handheld sharpener with casing to catch shavings
- Plastic zip lock bag, or pencil case to hold all supplies
- 2 double sided sharpie markers.
** Bringing in the required materials will be your first grade!!**

Rules and Guidelines
Classroom behavior
- Be on time
- Students are expected to clean up all supplies used during class
- Be respectful of art supplies
- No calling out in class
- Be respectful of everyone
- Stay in your assigned seats until given permission
Assignments
- All assignments will have a due date; there will be few exceptions to this rule. If an assignment is late, the students will lose 5pts. every day the project is late.
- If a student requires extra help or extended time with a project, it mush be approved by the teacher. Cutters will be ineligible.
Grading Policy
Projects: (60%) Creative solutions will lead to successful projects. In art, assignments are given to see what new innovative ideas students can come up with so you don’t have to be the best artist in the class. Having the best idea and being creative is just as important
Participation: (15%) Participation will be based on answering question, completing projects, being prepared for class and sketchbook work such as the aim and do now.
Homework: (15%): Homework will include but not limited to researching reference images and artist as well as handouts and simple drawings.
Test and Quizzes: (10%) There will be at minimum of one test per marking period and a final at the end of the year. Quizzes will be given out periodically according to the projects assigned.
