SUPER EFFICIENT LUMINAIRE RANGE DESIGNED FOR LIGHTING OF GROUP A ROADS FOR EFFICIENT OPTICAL CONTROL RESULTING IN WIDER SPACINGS BETWEEN POLES.

The luminaire shall consist of a separatelamp, control gear and spigot compartment. The control gear housing shall be separated from the lamphousing for thermal reasons. It shall be designed to operate 250/400Wmercury vapour and 150/250/400W high-pressure sodium/metalhalide lamps.

The luminaire shall bear the SANS 475 mark and the SANS 60598-2-3 safety mark.

Luminaire spigot entries shall comply with SANS 1088 - Table 1.

Side entry - ø42mm x 125mm.

The luminaire shall have a degree of protection that complies with SANS 60598-2-3.

Lamp compartment: IP66

Gear compartment: IP66

The IP ratings are certified by an SABS test report.

The housing shall be robustlyconstructed, weatherproof, hailproof, corrosion proof and vandal resistant.It shall be manufactured from filled ultravioletstabilized engineering polymer and shall be grey in colour.An exterior lip shall be provided on thelamp housing to avoid direct rain water contact with the gasket, thus ensuring that no moisture shall be sucked into the diffuser when the luminaire shall be switched off andcools down.

The non-discolouring high-impact acrylic diffuser bowl shall have noexternal prisms and shall be held to thehousing by three stainless steelclips. (Five in the 400W version.)It shall remain attached to the housingwhen hinged open.

The gasket sealing the lampcompartment shall be made of silicon sponge rubber and shall be fitted into atongue-and-groove arrangement.The one-piece reflector system shall be manufactured from chemically brightened 99,98% single piece ensuring the correct alignment of the lamp for optimum high performance. The lamp holder shall comply with VC 8011, shall be rated to withstand240°C/5kV and shall prevent possible loosening of the lampcaused by vibrations.

The control gear compartment shall be manufactured from high-pressure die-cast aluminium to ensureexcellent heat dissipation andoptimum strength.It shall be covered by a hinged, noncorrosivelid which shall fit into asilicon sponge gasket in the body,into a tongue-and-groovearrangement.The IP66 ingress protection rating shall ensure that all control gear components shall be protected againstthe ingress of dust and moisture, thus preventing corrosion andpremature failure.

The control gear shall be mounted on a removable gear tray and shall be suitable for operation with thespecified rating of the lamp on a 230V +3%/-10% 50Hz singlephase system.

All control gear components shall be removable. Ignitors, where applicable, shall be of the superposedpulse type. The luminaire shall be powerfactor corrected to a minimum of0,9.

The separate spigot compartment shall house the screw terminal blockand wire clamp. No access to the control gear compartment shall be required forinstallation, thus possible damage to the control gear shall be avoided.An optional down facing miniaturedaylight switch can be fitted into this compartment, giving itprotection against UV andensuring extended service.
