Emergency Overview

These products are granular, odorless polymers that yield a gel-like material with the addition of water. They are insoluble in water and cause extremely slippery conditions when wet. Recent scientific information has determined that respirable particles of these materials, any nuisance dust may be a potential respiratory tract irritant. Use an approved respirator if necessary when conditions merit. See Section 8 for Exposure Controls and Personal Protection.

Dust may cause burning, drying, itching, and other discomfort, resulting in reddening of the eyes.’

Potential Health Effects: Skin

Exposure to the dust, such a in manufacturing, may aggravate existing skin conditions due to drying effect.

Potential Health Effects: Ingestion

As in any instance of non-food consumption, seek medial attention in the event of any adverse symptoms.

Potential Health Effects: Inhalation

Exposure to respirable dust may cause respiratory tract and lung irritation and may aggravate existing respiratory conditions.

SAFE HANDLING INFORMATION

STORAGE AND TRANSPORT:

Product is not a transport hazard. Avoid extremes of temperature, wet, damp or humid conditions.

SPILLS AND DISPOSAL:

Granules can be swept up and used or disposed of. If material has been wet and a gel has formed it should be contained with sand or earth. Dispose at a landfill site.

FIRE/EXPLOSION HAZARD:

Although product is non-flammable as with many organic powders, flammable dust clouds may be formed. Avoid creating dust and keep away from sources of ignition. If involved in a fire use carbon dioxide, dry powder or foam in preference to water spray.

OTHER INFORMATION:

Spilled product can be very slippery if it becomes wet.
