DAY 2 SOUND RECORDING + LIGHTING

Sound Recording Demonstration
Groups of 3 - Capturing clean sound; recording dialogue, atmos, soundscape

Story/Script: Any idea’s from students for short film?

Basic Lighting Introduction; High contrast, Low key, Shadows, Style

DAY 3 CUT IN CAMERA + SIMPLE EDIT + STORY

Groups of 4: Plan and shoot a short chronological sequence in ten shots; the
invisible cut & dynamic shot sequences

Story & Character; Looking at Narrative Structure and the Role of Character (to move story along). Joseph Campbell’s Theory of Mythology
Exercises to generate story material and start writing in small groups/pairs
Editing; Assemble and view mornings shot sequences in FCPX

DAY 4 MAKING DRAMA & DIRECTING ACTORS

Split group: Group A - Directing actors in studio with script.
Directing approaches & methods; etiquette on set; shoot short sequence.
Group B - Developing story ideas to pitch to group

DAY 5 EDITING and PRE-PRODUCTION

Pre Production for chosen shorts; storyboard, schedule, shot lists, props, casting, sourcing needs

Re-grouping; final checks - what do we need for next week? Crew up / roles.

DAY 6 SHOOT BEGINS!
