INFORMATION

  • Camp structure

These camps are for young hockey players from 11 to 16 years who want to improve their understanding of hockey and who also want to improve their techniques and learn new skills. The model for the camp is taken from the highly successfulHolland training camps formally run by MidlandsRegionSchools and Youth on which 5 of the coaching staff attended as players and/or as staff.

Both camps will be informative yet fun and enjoyable. The coaches will tailor the sessions according to the abilities and ambitions of the students.

There will be ample time for each student to discuss any aspect of the game with the staff all of whom are all very knowledgeable about their sport, but in particular youth hockey and the development of the individual.

  • Staffing

The lead coach and coaches are all CRB checked, 1st aid qualified and in possession of current England Hockey Limited (EHL) coaching certificates that include coursesmodules on working with young people &safety and injury. All staff are used to working with young players of all abilities and are experts in identifying and working with talented young hockey players. They are all aware of the need to balance training with enjoyment. Most of the coaches have worked within the regional network and are fully conversant with all of the principles of LTAD. All players will be equally well treated by the camp staff and each participant will have the opportunity to work with many of the coaching team.

Code of conduct

All those participating in the camp will have to sign up to a simple code of conduct upon arrival. This will outline the simple rules that we will all follow. In essence it will call upon everyone to respect each other, to respect their own and others property, It will highlight that everyone is a guest at the college and therefore there is a need to look after buildings, facilities and its grounds.

Camps

We have advertised the camps as a boys camp and a girls camp. We have done this to help with the management of the genders. We do understand that fitting in holidays and other arrangements in over the summer break could mean that children could miss out on the opportunity to come to the camp for their gender. We have decided that boys and girls can go to either camp. All boys and girls will have totally separate sleeping areas and shower arrangements. Players should realise that the boys camp will be dominated by boys and the girls camp by girls.

Day students

If you want your child just to attend the camp during the day then the arrangements will be:

  • Day student:£150 (arrive at 10.00am collect at 9.00pm before supper)

The day students will stay for lunch and dinner. Other arrangements to collect earlier can be made.
