Identifying initial sounds in wordsi.e.: ‘I-spy’ games for letters and sounds.
Phase 2 - To begin to name and sound less familiar letters; ext: to use phonological knowledge to decode familiar and simple words / Role play –Expressive arts and Design.
Outdoors: Ice cream shop; café; picnic
Adults will:Support and extend children’s role-play.
Cooking: Sandwiches with healthy fillings (See Physical and Mathematics)

Adults will: Encourage children in staying longer at their chosen activities to extend learning experiences.

Adults will: Support children in thinking about how others are feeling and the needs of others. Support children in caring for one another and the caterpillars and chicks. Remind children how to care for the environment. / Literacy
Reading
Revisit all core books over the coming weeks. Provide opportunities for children to retell the stories.

Adults will: support children in retelling the story; use picture props at story time

Physical Development
To know the importance of physical exercise
To observe the effects physical exercise has on their body
Adults will: Play physical games eg those played by Skillz. Discuss with children why they get hot and support them in noticing the effects exercise has on their body. Talk about the importance of exercise contributing towards staying healthy. Encourage children to think about foods that are good for them and the importance of keeping hydrated. / Mathematics Number
To use number during play.
Adults will: Support the children in developing their understanding of number, encouraging the use of mathematical language during play and exploration of activities. Encourage the children to mark-make to support their thinking about numbers and simple problems. Use number lines to match numeral to quantity.
Communication and Language.
Listening and attention
To listen to what others are saying and respond accordingly
Adults will:support children in listening to others and responding accordingly. Support children in understanding that conversation is a two way process. / Understanding the world
To show curiosity in living things and to comment and ask questions about what they see.
Adults will:Support children in sharing their observations of minibeasts, caterpillars, and the growing vegetables and lilies. Introduce new vocabulary. Use information books and the iPad’s to research further.
Expressive arts and design
To make representations of caterpillars and frogs using a range of media
Adults will: support children in making observational drawings and paintings; provide materials in the creative workshop and support children there. Provide materials such as clay and dough to make models.
