Suggested Equipment List
Since weather conditions can vary quite a bit, from 30oF in the morning to 80oF in the afternoon, rain, fog and/or sun in the same day, with 45oF temps and windy conditions along the exposed coast to 70oF temps and no wind in protected areas, you need to bring a variety of clothing with you. Also keep in mind that we will be doing some strenuous hiking and bouldering so you will need a good pair of hiking boots that provide ankle support.
Dress in layers. In the morning it will be quite cool but as the day wears on you will shed layers until a short sleeve shirt and shorts may be appropriate. Here is a suggested list of equipment to bring. I may have missed something though. When thinking about what to bring...... we will have windy, winter conditions and sunny summer conditions sometime on the trip, maybe even on the same day!
Enough money (plastic or travelers checks) (there are banks with ATM machines in Bar Harbor).

Field notebook (provided to you)
Pencils, sharpener
Day back pack to hold rain gear, lunch, water, camera, field note book
Rain gear (coat and pants)
Anything wool: socks, sweater, pants (wool retains heat when wet)
Above ankle hiking boots (already broken in and waterproofed!!!)
Comfortable shoes/sneakers for around camp, in town.
Sleeping bag (make sure its rated to 30oF if not bring a blanket too.)
Sleeping pad or air mattress (for cushion and to insulate you from cold ground)
Waterproof ground cover
Pillow (we're camping but we're not Barbarians!!)
Toilet articles (toothbrush/paste, soap, shampoo, etc)
Sunglasses Suntan lotion
Shorts Pants Gloves
Long sleeve shirts Lots of socks
Bathing suit (you never know!!) Hat

2 towels (one to use, one drying)

Laundry facilities are available. That is you can dry a wet sleeping bag or gear or wash your clothes. Bring half the clothes you think you need. Cargo space will be very tight in the cars. We all go to the laundry so you’ll have an opportunity to wash your clothes.
