Memorandum of Association

  1. This Memorandumsets out the basis on which we will work together for the benefit of disabled peopleand family carers in Suffolk by:
  2. Raising and improving the quality and coverage of disability issues in Suffolk;

1.2 Identifying and addressing current issues and initiatives affecting disabled people in Suffolk;

1.3 Working to influence as wide a range of individual contacts and public bodies as possible including, Local Authority Officers, Local Councillors, MPs, Healthwatch, local commerce and government ministers;

1.4 Sharing information, expertise and resources where this is beneficial and appropriate;

1.5 Identifying and supporting efforts and activities to improve the scope and quality of services;

1.6 Promoting a shared and joint vision for disabled people;

1.7 Workingin partnership with Suffolk County Council, Clinical Commissioning Groups and other organisations to inform their strategic plans.

2To that end the Management Committeeof the Consortium agrees to:

2.1 Identify and co-ordinate activities and actions for the benefit of all signatories to this memorandum in anopen, fair and transparent manner;

2.2 Establish and maintain two way communications with members in order to ensure equal access to information and provide opportunities and enable members to take an active part in decision making;

2.3 Not speak on behalf of members without being clear about the majority view of the membership;

2.4 Respond publicly to disability issues raised via the media at short notice in a professional and unbiased manner;

2.5Ensure its own sustainability in order to provide ongoing benefit to all members.

3To that end members of the Consortium agree to:

3.1 Respond to requests and communications from the Consortium in a timely manner;

3.2 Support the majority decisions of the Consortium in public arenas and to the media;

3.3 Not express opinions on behalf of the Consortium without the prior agreement of the Consortium;

3.4Work with the Management Committeeof the Consortium and other members in order to achieve the aims as stated in Section 1 of this document.
