Dear Colleague,

At ______,we’ve always been about helping students, their families and strengthening the community. Now our commitment is even more important. You have the opportunity to show how much you care through supporting the United Way campaign.

United Way fights for the Education, Health and Financial Stability of every person in our community. You donation, no matter what the amount, creates opportunities and inspires hope for a better tomorrow.

With one gift to United Way, you will touch the lives of many individual and families. When we reach out a hand to one, we influence the condition of all. We all win when a child has a head start on quality education that leads to success in future jobs, when individuals have enough income to support a family through retirement, and when we all enjoy good health. These results and changes have benefits that ripple out to the community as a whole, helping others and strengthening the community.

Now, more than ever, your gift goes further with United Way. If you give $3.50 or more per week, your gift isdoubled through a matching grant from EIi Lilly.

Subject Line: Maybe it is rocket science...

At this point in the (Company) United Way campaign, you have had the chance to hear about the important work United Way does in our community: moving people to financial stability, improving community health and preparing children to succeed in education.

I want to give you an example of how your gift made an impact in the life of a child in our community.

Tyler is the middle child in his family. He has an older brother and a baby sister. He has always been a nervous child who has a difficult time making friends and playing with other kids. His parents were very concerned when he started school and for good reason. Teachers reported that Tyler was disruptive in class, often the victim of teasing and seemed to really struggle academically.

Tyler’s parents had taken him to counselors and specialists. They were discussing the possibility of medication. Then Tyler’s school received a Minds In Motion program through United Way. Minds In Motion uses technology from NASA. Children (and astronauts) go through an obstacle course, play simple eye hand coordination games and balance on balance boards.

Amazingly, Tyler began to do better in school. His nervous ticks ceased and he was less disruptive in the classroom. Tyler now has friends and is succeeding in school without medication. His parents are both relieved and thankful.

When you give to United Way, you help students like Tyler.

If you are already giving, I thank you for contributing to the success of the (company) campaign and the strength of our community.

If you haven’t made your pledge, I hope you’ll consider giving to United Way this year. The United Way Community Impact Fund makes it easy for all of us to help create major improvements in the most pressing issues facing our community.

Thank you,

(Campaign Coordinator)

P.S. Last year our United Way campaign raised ($ ) for our community and we expect to reach a goal of ($) this year. Please help us. Turn in your pledge card by (date).

Subject Line: For the Price of Two Lattes...

One of the most common questions (Company) employees ask about United Way is what difference their gift makes. You might be surprised at how much an affordable weekly gift can accomplish when it’s invested in advancing the common good with United Way.

Every dollar you invest in United Way goes to address critical needs in our community. For example:

•$5 per week ensures 650 people living on the edge have something to eat and a warm bed.

•$10 per week helps a family get back on their feet by teaching them how to budget, get out debt and save money to empower them to become first time home owners or receive additional education.

•$20 per week provides five students with afterschool homework help every day.

•$25 per week helps 25 people receive life saving medications with a value of $130,000 in savings.

I’m not saying any of us have to give up our morning coffee or anything else to make a United Way gift. But I hope that you can join me in giving to United Way at the level that’s right for you.

Thank You,

Subject Line: Let’s Create a Brighter Future

I’m excited about this year’s United Way Campaign, because we have the chance to support United Way efforts to make transformative improvements in the lives of people in our community.

Take the example of Clare, a 4 year-old girl from Goshen. Hundreds of children in our community from working families start kindergarten one or two years behind grade level- many of them never catch up.

But two years ago, Clare’s mom signed her up for a United Way early education program. Your support has helped Clare get on track, so she will be ready for kindergarten next fall.

Now imagine it’s the year 2027. Ten years from now, Clare will enter ninth grade. Do you think most of her classmates will be ready to succeed in high school- and beyond? Will they look at Elkhart County as a place that will offer good job opportunities to work toward? And will they and their parents have good health?

During the United Way campaign, we all have the chance to help make sure answers to those questions are good ones. How can you get involved?

•Turn in your completed pledge form by (date)

•Come to a meeting to learn more about the work United Way does in our community

•Follow United Way of Elkhart County on facebook and twitter.

If you have any questions about this or anytime throughout the campaign, please let me know. And thank you for your support of United Way!

Let’s have a great campaign!
