It is notified for information of all concerned that at the first meeting of the ‘re-constituted Equivalence Committee’ held on 08.12.2004, it was decided to grant equivalence/recognition to various programmes of sister universities/institutions for admission to IGNOU Programmes, as per details given below:

2.1.Further, the Equivalence Committee has resolved not to accept the following qualifications for purpose of admission to IGNOU Programmes:

(i)Diploma awarded by the Board of Examination Commission of Swiss Aid for Afghans for purpose of direct admission to BA/B.Com. Holders of such qualification may seek admission to BA/B.Com through BPP. Such candidates may be asked to produce a certificate of equivalence from the respective Embassy/High Commission in India in order to minimize the procedure.

(ii)GCSE Exam. conducted by Edexcel,U.K., for purpose of direct admission to BA/B.Com. Instead, holders of such qualification may seek admission to BA/B.Com through BPP.

(iii)The ‘Certificate of IAF Education Test’ for purpose of direct admission to BA/B.Com. Instead, holders of such qualification may seek admission to BA/B.Com through BPP.

(iv)The ‘Graduation Certificate’ awarded by Indian Navy for purpose of admission to Post-graduate Programmes as the said Certificate is meant for only re-employment of Ex-servicemen.

2.2.The Equivalence Committee has further resolved that a learner pursuing BDP of IGNOU through non-formal stream, i.e. through BPP, becomes eligible for Bachelor’s degree after successful completion of 96 credits. At no stage, he/she can be certified equivalence with 10+2.

2.3.Further, a Notification has already been issued stating that the ‘educational qualifications awarded by the Private Universities established under the provisions of The Chhattisgarh Niji Kshetra Vishwavidyalaya (Sthapana Aur Viniyaman) Adhiniyam, 2002’ are non est and can not be made the basis of admission to higher studies with IGNOU in view of the judgment and order dated 11.02.2005 of the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India.

3.Besides the qualifications mentioned in para-1, the equivalence/recognition granted by the Equivalence Committee and/or Academic Council in the past, as per details given below, are also brought to the notice of all concerned:

It is notified for information of all concerned that the following recommendations made by the ‘re-constituted Equivalence Committee’ at its third meeting held on 26.12.2005 pertaining to granting equivalence/recognition to various programmes of sister universities/institutions for admission to IGNOU Programmes, have been approved by the Academic Council (AC 34.6.2). 2.The Academic Council has also approved the recommendations of the Equivalence Committee for withdrawal of IGNOU’s BIT as a ‘professional qualification’ for purpose of admission to Management Programmes for the session commencing January 2007 onwards.

3. Further, the Academic Council has also approved the recommendations of the Equivalence Committee not to accept the following Degrees/Diplomas/Certificates for purpose of admission to IGNOU’s academic programmes:

(i)Master’s Degree awarded, without first degree, by the OpenUniversities and the Directorate of Distance Education of different Universities in the country.

(ii)Hindi Courses offered by Institutions not empowered by Central/State Legislation to award Degrees.

(iii)2 year full time ‘PG Diploma in Business Management’ awarded by Lal Bahadur ShastriInstitute of management & Technology, Bareilly.

(iv)2 year ‘Diploma in Medical Laboratory Technician’ awarded by ‘All Indian Council for Paramedical Education’, New Delhi.

(v)‘Matriculation’ of Board of Adult Education, Delhi, and further qualification(s) acquired based on this Matriculation.

(vi)‘Madhyama Praiksha’ of Shrimad Dayanand Arsha Vidyapeeth, Rohtak.

2.The Academic Council’s Standing Committee has also approved the recommendations of the Equivalence Committee not to acceptthe following Degrees/Diplomas for purpose of admission to IGNOU’s Academic Programmes.

(i)‘Associate Membership Examination’ of Indian Institute of Metals, Kolkata, at par with Bachelor’s Degree for purpose of Admission to IGNOU’s Management Programmes, in the light of non-recognition of the said Examination by AICTE.

(ii)Not to give recognition to HimachalPradeshUniversity’s Bachelor of Journalism and Mass Communication (BJMC) as equivalent to IGNOU’s Post-graduate Diploma in Journalism and Mass Communication (PGJMC).

It is notified for information of all concerned that the following recommendations made by the ‘re-constituted Equivalence Committee’ at its fifthmeeting held on 12.12.2006 pertaining to granting equivalence/recognition to various programmes of sister universities/institutions for admission to IGNOU Programmes, have been approved by the Academic Council’s Standing Committee at its 22nd meeting held on 21.12.2007 (ACSC 22.7.2). The details of such qualifications are given below:

Exam. from NIOS in order to fulfil the condition of passing in minimum five core subjects imposed by CBSE and other State Boards of Examinations.
2. / Equivalence of ‘Four year Artificer Apprenticeship Training (Electrical)’ and ‘Four year Artificier Apprentice Course in Ship Construction and Naval Architecture’ conducted by Indian Navy (INS Valsura, Jamnagar and Shipwright School, Visakhapatnam). / Recognized as equivalent to 10+2 for purposes of admission to IGNOU’s B.Sc. and BCA Programmes also (in addition to B.A/B.Com Programmes already considered by the Equivalence Committee at its 3rd meeting held on 26.12.2005), subject to the following conditions:

The cases of the candidates who joined the said two programmes of Indian Navy prior to Feb.2004 will be examined by the School of Sciences on case by case basis in order to bridge the short fall of the +2 level science subjects.
However, candidates joined these two programmes from Feb.2004 onwards and successfully completed them will be directly admitted to B.Sc.
BCA
Candidates have to concurrently pursue MTE-03 in the first year as per stipulation imposed for non-Maths students.
3. / ‘Intermediate Examination (+2)’ conducted by Jharkhand Academic Council (JAC), Ranchi. / Circular No.IG/SRE-Ex.III/Equiv./2006/ dt. 25.10.06 already issued indicating the Board Code: 3601 allotted to JAC and incorporated in the Student Handbook & Prospectus-July 2007.
