Purpose of the study log: The NYS exam on June 1st and 2nd covers social studies content that was taught in both 7th and 8th grade. In order to do well on this exam, students will need to study on a regular basis (not three hours the night before). Any student that does not do well on this exam will be assigned to AIS at the high school. In addition to preparing for the state test this study log is designed to teach and reinforce the following:

-  organization

-  study skills

-  responsibility

Directions for the Study Log:

1.  You must study AT HOME (not at school) for at least 20 minutes a night (Friday, Saturday and Sunday Included). You may not study 1 hour one night in order to skip the next two days.

2.  You must tell Mr. Schrage ahead of time if your parents will not be able to sign your study log (EX – Dad is going to be out on a business trip)

3.  These study logs will be checked randomly! Each time your study log is checked it will be worth 10 points.

4.  Your parent/guardian must sign the study log nightly (Do not have your parents sign your study log for the entire week)

5.  Each day of your study log must be filled in – No credit will be given for blanks anywhere on the study log.

6.  Bring your study log with you to class every day. You will not be allowed to go to your locker to get your study log.

7.  If you have your study log completed but left it at home you will receive a 0. Part of this assignment is to teach study skills, organization and responsibility.

8.  You have the option to complete an extra credit assignment if you receive a 0 when I check your study guide.

9.  Please review the purpose and rules of the study log with your parents/guardians and have them sign below.
