You will be given primary sources and will need to answer questions using the primary source and your knowledge of the topic. The two topics are:

-Election of 1860

-Change of Power in 1800 Election

Essay question:

Be sure you can answer each of these essay questions using 8th grade written sentences & paragraphs.

1. Alexander Hamilton and Thomas Jefferson were both key leaders in America’s early years. How do Jefferson and Hamilton differ in the way they interpret the Constitution? How do Jefferson and Hamilton differ in their views of America’s future economy? What were each of their stances on the creation of a national bank? How do these differences lead to different views about the role of government?

2. American expanded its borders over the years. Pick 2 of the areas listed below and explain circumstances in which we gained the area (including who we gained it from and how we gained it) and how that land effected the US politically, socially, and economically.
