Final Exam and Review / 3-4 days
Assessment:
Students will be assessed using points from the following categories:
· Homework & Activities –30%
· Tests, Quizzes and Projects-70%
Homework will occur almost daily and will be evaluated the following day. Tests will occur at the end of each chapter and may contain short answer, multiple choice, essay and/or open response questions. In each chapter there will be one or two quizzes, which may or may not be announced. Activities and projects will be evaluated using a guide given to the student at the beginning of the assignment.
Course Materials
You will need to bring the following materials with you each day to class:
· Textbook
· Pencils, erasers, and dry-erase markers
· Loose-leaf paper, binder (Class Notebook) and four (4) dividers
· Graph paper
****Note: A graphing calculator is NOT required. If you choose to invest in a graphing calculator, it is suggested you purchase TI-84 or TI-84 plus. You will not be allowed to use TI-89 or above in class.
Classroom Rules/Expectations:
1. Be responsible for your work. Bring supplies and homework every day.
2. Be in your assigned seat ready to work when the tardy bell rings.
3. Seek additional help immediately if a topic seems difficult or requires alternative approaches to assist in your understanding.
Guidelines for Success:
1. Respect yourself and others.
2. Make responsible decisions.
3. Be on time and prepared for class.
4. Put forth your best effort.
Course Policies
Absences/Makeup Work: When you return from an absence, you are responsible for the following:
· Turning in any homework that was due the day(s) of your absence.
· Reading the textbook section or other material that was used as a resource during your absence.
· Getting the homework assignment(s) you missed and updating your class notebook.
· Turning in your make-up work.
According to school policy, you have as many days as you were absent to turn in missed assignments. However, you should turn in at least one make-up assignment as well as the current assignment each day until you are caught up. Make-up tests must be taken outside of regular class time.
Helpful Hints: Students are encouraged to actively participate in all class discussions by making appropriate comments in appropriate ways; asking questions by raising hands; putting work on the board when asked; participating in group work as a contributing member; and answering questions when called upon.
To Discuss Your Child’s Progress: Please call the school and leave a message or make an appointment for a conference to insure that instructional time is uninterrupted. I will return your call or schedule a conference either after school hours or during planning time. I can also be reached via E-mail.
