Students have written some information for you on what we have done lately or what we will be doing:
Our class is going to a Winterhawk game to sing and sign O’Canada. You are invited and get in free. Lilee, Timmy, Ainsley (Mrs. Slade says see the home page and hand out section of the website for more information.)
We are going to learn about multiplication very soon. I already know that 10x10 = 100 Lena, Mason
We have made glitter calm down bottles. It was fun to make. We were pretending they are our amygdala in our brain. They are also a strategy that can help us calm our amygdala down by watching the glitter swirl around. Rachel, Ava, Carson, Eva
Our grade threes in the school are doing speeches in a competition. Some of us in our class might do the speech. It is our choice and some children might go compete against other schools. Huxley
In school, we are going to doing art with Cutips. We are going to do something with a shoebox, but Mrs. Slade seems to be keeping it a secret! Meghan (Mrs. Slade says get an adult size shoebox ready but keep it at home)
HI Moms and Dads, I’m going to tell you about someone we learned about. Her name is “Miss Take”. Here is what she has done: She climbed into the wrong van, lost an earring, took a wrong turn on a highway, called a student by the wrong name, took a student’s pencil, wrote “d” twice on the blackboard for math. Can you guess who this is? Can you tell what the words “Miss Take” sounds like? Mykah, Taylor, Hunter, Camille
In our classroom, we have a time called “Ketchup and Pickles”. Ketchup is where you work on something to catch up. Pickles is when you’re all done and move on to play with fidget toys. Waylon
Please bring treats for our Valentine’s Day celebration on February 14, 2017 and also please bring Valentine cards too. Danica (Mrs. Slade suggests that the quickest way to do cards is to write “From, child’s name” and not put who it is to. There are 21 classmates, 22 children in all. If you would like the names, they will be on the classroom website home page in a couple of days. If your family has the surname of A to E, please feel free to send/make treats for Valentine’s Day. If anyone else has something they would like to send in, please do so Please remember the food must be “NUT Free”, not just “Peanut Free”.
Topics we are talking about school wide on how to be successful in academics and behavior are: Perseverance, Self-Discipline and the Power of Yet. Please continue talk to your child about these awesome traits or concepts.
I am so impressed with how students are following classroom routines. For some reason though, in January there were a lot of students not returning homework or notes from parents in a timely manner…. Hopefully those students, with the help of a parent, can pull up their socks and put lots of effort into improving in this area.
Please ask your child if they need more pencils or erasers. Some students still need to bring in a calculator.
The special code for parents to write in the planner and say they have received the newsletter is: str17023.
