STUDENTS

  • Students do not have school Friday, March 9thdue to a Professional Development Day for teachers.
  • LHS 7th & 8th grade Semi-Formal Dance is Thursday, March 8 from 7:00-10:00 p.m. Tickets are $5 in advance and $7 at the door. Picture package cost is $5. Dress Code is semi formal or Sunday best. No jeans. Guidelines to attend: no suspensions from February 19 through March 8.
  • Anyone in grades 8-11 interested in trying out for the Periquette Dance team please sign the sign up sheet in the front office or outside of room 202. Dance team tryout packets will be delivered once grades have been verified. Dance team tryouts will be held March 19-20. You must have a physical on file to tryout.
  • Applications are now available for current sophomores and juniors interested in attending LYS, the Louisiana Youth Seminar that takes place July 15-20 on LSU's campus. Local industry will be sponsoring twelve students in St. James Parish to attend this leadership event at no cost to them. Sponsorship applications with more details are available in the front office but should be returned to your counselor only. Deadline is today- late applications will NOT be accepted, no exceptions!
  • The Louisiana Culinary Institute in Baton Rouge will be offering summer Baking and Pastry Development Camps during the month of June. Pleas see your counselor for more information.
  • Any students at least 16 years of age who are interested in a summer counselor position at the Louisiana Lions Camp should see their counselor for more information or go to apply.
  • HBCU 3rd Annual College Fair will be March 10 from 9:00-12:00. Featuring colleges and universities from around the state and country. Lots of give a ways, food, fun and more. For more information see Mrs. Darlene Riley, Alana Green or DalanciaFluence.
  • LSU is currently accepting applications for its Summer Scholars Program. This program is open to college-bound, minority seniors. It is an eight-week program that transitions students from high school to college. Students are enrolled in 6 college credit hours and participate in leadership and enrichment activities throughout the summer. Deadline to apply is Friday, March 9th. See your counselor for more details.
  • JROTC nacho sale today and Thursday at all 4 lunches.
  • JROTC Staff meeting today.
  • JROTC Summer Camp is scheduled for the last week of May 2018 and is open for cadets from the fall and spring semester. Participation is limited to 5 males and 5 females so those interested please see Col Copple or Sgt Kennedy to sign up.
  • FCA 1st Camp Meeting Thursday at 6:00 in the Pound.
  • Seniors, Please continue checking the Counselors' Moodle Page for new scholarship listings. Local scholarships due this month are the St. James Business and Industry Scholarship due March 30th and the Delta Sigma Theta Scholarship due March 23rd.
  • The Krewe of M.A.C. Corin/Ricardo Wallace Memorial Scholarships are now available. Interested students can pick up an application in the counselors office. The deadline is April 9
  • Friday, March 9th is the last day to register for the April 14th ACT.
  • Jrs and Srs you must sign up for PROM on the LHS Webpage by Friday. If you are not signed up and approved, you cannot attend PROM. Out of School Guest Form will be available in the office on tomorrow. Forms must be completed and approved by March 23rd.
  • Reminder to all the 4-Hers that Citizenship Mini Camp on this Friday March 9 - 9:00 to noon at the St. James Parish Courthouse in Convent. Also please start signing up youth for speak-out –See Mrs. Jenny Williamson for more info
