Days 1 through 5 – Cumulative number of days suspended during the current school year
1. / Provide parent Official Notice of Out of School Suspension (OSS). Prepare a Written Notice (GV)to be attached to the Short-Term Suspension Notice completed bythe site administrator. Both documents are to be given to the parentas notification of the OSS. List on the Written Notice the dates and cumulative numberof days the student has beensuspended duringthe current school year.

Days 6 through 10 – Cumulative number of days suspended during the current school year. Notify Director of Students Services.
1. / Provide parent Official Notice of Out of School Suspension (OSS). Prepare a Written Notice (GV)to be attached to the Short-Term Suspension Notice completed by the site administrator. Both documents are to be given to the parent as notification of the OSS. List on theWritten Notice the dates and cumulative number of days the student has beensuspended during the current school year.
2. / Schedule IEP Amendment Meeting
a. Coordinate with administrator, classroom teacher, parent andstudent to schedule an IEP Amendment meeting date.
b. Send a Notice of Meeting (GV) (allow a 10-day notice or a date agreed upon by parent/s) to parents indicating intent to review and/or amend the current IEP and BIP if any.Initiate Additional Evaluation or Functional Behavior Assessment if appropriate.
c. Work with building level administrator to develop a specific plan to deliver services to the sped student in the event that thecumulative number of out of school suspension days total more than 10 during a school year. The plan must enable the student to participate in thegeneral ed curriculum, although in another setting, and progress toward meeting IEP goals.
d. Notify school psychologist for direction concerning preparations needed for Manifestation Determination in the event that student issuspended out of school for 10 days or more during the current school year.
3. / Conduct IEP Amendment Meeting
a. Amend IEP and clearlydefine in the meeting notes the specific planto deliver services tothe sped student in the event thatthecumulative number of out ofschool suspension days total 11during a school year. Review BIP if one is currently in place. Amend as necessary. If no BIP in place, initiate Additional Evaluation or Functional Behavior Assessment as appropriate
b. Complete the signature pages for Manifestation Determination, and IEP and BIP is necessary, and document distance participation of any team member in the signature pages.
4. / Prepare a draft Written Notice (GV) stating the district’s action to implement the new IEP and BIP (if any) as determined by the IEP team, note that a copy of the IEP and BIP (if any) are attached

  1. Scan all signature pages and underlined forms to SPEDAdmin. Asst. within 3 days after the meeting, and send Original signature pages to SPED Office immediately via inter-office mail.You will receive an email from the SPED Admin. Asst. regarding any compliance needs/revisions.

6. / Upon receiving a “compliant” note from the SPED Director, finalize the Written Notice (GV) drafted in #4 and send it immediately to the parent together with the final copy of the IEP and BIP.
