SCHOLARSHIP CRITERIA: Applicants must be seniors attending Cedar Park High School. Students must complete the scholarship application and submit it to the Matt Arellano Memorial Scholarship Committee by the postmarked deadline of May 1, 2017. The address is: Matt Arellano Memorial Scholarship Committee, c/o CPHS Baseball, 2150 Cypress Creek Road, Cedar Park, Texas 78613.

Scholarships will be awarded to college-bound seniors who enroll in accredited colleges or universities as (part-time or full-time) students within 12 months of the scholarship award. Winners will be announced at the CPHS Senior Awards Night.

This scholarship is based entirely on character and is not focused on what your grades are, how many activities/sports you are involved in or how many volunteer hours you have. What made Matt special was who he was and what he did when he knew no one was looking. We want to understand who you are and not what you think we want to hear. We encourage all college bound seniors to apply!

ESSAY: Please write a 600 – 800 word essay on one of the following topics and include the word count for your essay at the top of the first page.

§  If you only had 6 months to live, what would you do with it?

§  Tell about a time when you helped another person through a tough time in their life without there being anything in it for you.

§  If you could go back and change one thing in your life, what would it be and why?

RECOMMENDATIONS: Two to three (2 - 3) written character recommendations; which must be submitted in individual envelopes sealed by the person making the recommendation (school counselor, teacher, coach, pastor, employer, volunteer program director, etc.).
