Officer Mandate: Food donation
Student Council Officer Mandate (SCF3)
Student Council has the power to request a full-time or part-time officer to take action on behalf Union members. Any mandate issued must be acted upon by the nominated individual(s) and progress reported back to each Student Council until the Council deems the request to be complete.
1.This Council Notes
State the facts surrounding the issue
That currently a lot of food from staff meetings within the university is wasted due to it not being sealed.
2.This Council Believes
State what you want the Officer to change
That instead of wasting food from these meetings it should be made available to students for free, where it is not suitable to be donated first to the Food bank or Chaplaincy Food drop off, for students to help themselves.
3.This Council Resolves
Put what the expected officer actions are
That VP Education needs to set up drop off points at Library locations on both campuses, so that students can help themselves to any leftovers from staff meetings. These will need to be agreed upon by Library staff and then staff members in all Faculty’s need to be aware of these drop off points. The drop off points should be set up by New Year and all relevant members of staff informed within 7 days of the drop off points being set up.

6.This Council Resolves
Put what the expected officer actions are
All members of the SU Exec team need to take part in a video highlighting that emotions, particularly upset that leads to crying, are normal and that when it comes to emotions you should not be restricted by gender, or sexuality etc. The video would include officers talking about when they last cried and what they cried at. It would all be compiled in a video and then it would be shared through social media. The end of the video would sign post services on offer for students if they need help, such as counselling, chaplaincy and Nightline etc
