- Erin to send out email to SA to get volunteers for events

- SA in charge of photo contest (self-contained), Josh Sharpstein to be here on Wednesday (Anne and Aworyi), BloomWorks (6pm; Hsien and Amritha)

Vote on Two New Student Groups:

Health and the City (Michal)

-Group to bring together different perspectives on health problems in urban cities, esp. Baltimore

-Different from SPARC- Health and the City is at an academic conversational level specifically for urban health

- Unanimous approval

The Confounders: Jose (treasurer)

-School Soccer team affiliated with Baltimore City League

-all students and staff welcome to play

-precedent is for soccer teams to stay affiliated with departments, not with SA

-SA funds to be used for soccer ball, water, etc.

Strategic Planning Presentation -- Donna Strombino

-Last Oct- Accreditation of JHSPH; Hopkins scored well, met all objectives with the exception of a few (those were partially met)

-School has grown immensely since last accreditation (7 years ago)

-Elizabeth Holt- email if you have questions about accreditation process

-3 general focus areas: scope of school (Bill Spannhake, collaborations (Stephen Gange), technology (Francesca Dominici). SA has students in each committee (Rachel, Pritika, and Hsien).

-Steering Committee on the 9th of October- for update on each committee (drafts by November)

-Submit feedback on strategic planning website (or email Elizabeth/Donna or committee chair directly) comments to committee chairs or subcommittees on any issues or concerns

APHA representative (Lindsay)

- national student board, volunteer for committee (5-10 hours/month)

- good way to get Hopkins into national community

- see if any Hopkins students would be willing to host public health students from other schools

- compiling list of JHSPH students/faculty presenting on APHA to send out to school body (via self-report)

Santa Claus Anonymous (Tina Marie)

- money goes to 2 children organizations

- football at Patterson Park

- Does SA want to take this on as an event/subsidize registration event?
