STRF Database Notes (Rev 7, 07/30/11)
roomnoorig = original room numbers used in the color-coded 2nd floor space distribution drawings dated August 11, 2009.
roomno = final room numbers that will be used for signage.
roomsep = room separation or subdivision indicator. This can be a number or a letter. It is used to subdivide the large open laboratories and offices which have been given a single room number and which may be shared by more than one program.
Each open laboratory contains 12 single-sided benches 21 ft. long, except when the laboratory abuts the east or west end of the building in which case it contains 13 single-sided benches. These benches are numbered from 1 through 12 (or 13) beginning at the west end of each laboratory. Thus for example open laboratory roomno =269.1 (roomnoorig = 2701), roomsep = 3 means the third single-sided bench from the west end of room 269.1 which is assigned to the Adult Cancer program.
The modular cubiclesto be installed in the large open offices on the second and third floors will be numbered using roomsep as follows. On the second floor, cubicles will be installed in blocks of seven (7). One cubicle in each block will be double the size of the other six and will be configured as an office workroom with space for a copy machine and office supplies storage. Beginning at the northwestcorner of each block, cubicles will be numbered clockwise alphabetically in sequence beginning at A, the sequence being A, B, C, D, E, F, and G. This letter will be the roomsep. On the third floor, where the entire central portion of the building is a large open office, roomno = 300, cubicles will be installed in three blocks of four (4) and two blocks of eight (8). Beginning at the west end of rooomno = 300the 28 cubicles will be numbered sequentially beginning at the northwest-most cubicle, going along the north side cubicles and continuing back along the south side to the starting point. Numbering will begin at 50 (fifty) to avoid confusion with the lower numbers 300.1-300.44 which have been used for faculty offices.
All labs and offices other than Open Laboratories and Open Offices have no subdivisions for benches or cubicles and roomsep = 0. Thus roomno = 246 roomsep = 0 is a linear equipment room with no subdivisions.
size = the size of the room in sq. ft. In the case of open laboratories the figure given is the total size of the open lab space divided by the number of single-sided benches (12 or 13) and for open offices it is the total size of the open office space divided by the number of installed cubicles, with each second floor copy/workroom counted as two cubicles.
cumsum = the running cumulative sum of the room sizes for all the records in the found set.
