Strengthening Families Program (SFP)Sample Budget for Implementation in North Carolina 2016-17

Additional Budget Explanations

PCANC is pleased to share this sample budget based on estimates of groups currently implementing the program in North Carolina.

  • Estimates are based on serving 24 participants in a group and completing 14 weeks of implementation and 1 week for graduationin a monolingual group (group leaders and parents speak the same language).
  • Adjustments need to be made to account for a bilingual group.
  • The cost for the Coordinator role accounts for serving 2 consecutive groups. Additional hours would need to be added to the Coordinator salary line to support more than 2 groups a year.

START-UP COSTS

  • Training: Agencies need to account for sufficient time for non-salaried contractors to participate in training.
  • Curriculum: Sample budget is based on current pricing.

SFP GROUP IMPLEMENTATION (one 15 week series)

The estimates provided are based on serving 12 parents, 12 school-age children, and 8 younger siblings per group. This reflects the maximum number of individual parents & children that should be served in a SFP 6 – 11 series.

  • Meals are based on a rate of:
  • Parents: $10 per adult x 12
  • School-age children: $7 x 12
  • Younger siblings: $7 x 8
  • Childcare is based on 3 providers at $15 per hourx3 hours x 15 weeks.
  • Sites will need to add in fringe benefits and occupancy and equipment expenses when planning for adequate salary.
  • Sites will need to add the expense of an interpreter if one is needed.

ONGOING YEARLY COSTS

  • “Site specific” allows for calculations to be made based on the number of staff (coordinator and group leaders) involved inSFP implementation at an agency.
