GENERAL RULES & REGULATIONS

All Vendors are required to purchase a ‘Seller’s Permit’ prior to entering the event grounds.
  • Purchasing of a Seller’s Permit constitutes an agreement by the Vendor that they have read, understands, and will comply with all Maui Swap Meet Rules and Regulations. The Maui Swap Meet management reserves the right to revoke the ‘Seller’s Permit’ and evict rule violators.
  • Purchase of a Seller’s Permit denotes that the vendor agrees to hold the Maui Swap Meet, Maui Exposition, Maui Community College, and the University of Hawaii harmless from any liability or damage arising from sellers’ use of the premises and/or injury to persons or property from items sold or exchanged thereon.

All Vendors are required by law to have a State of Hawaii General Excise Tax License for this location.
The Following articles may not be sold or exchanged:
  • Firearms of any kind (whether real or replica), components for firearms, ammunition, explosives, and/or any other type of weapons or flammables.
  • Unauthorized foods or beverages of any kind and / or ingredients for the same, including alcoholic beverages, soda, bottled water, etc. Grab bags, games of chance, discount coupons, gift certificates, etc.
  • Hash pipes, roach clips, drugs and drug paraphernalia, etc.
  • Pre-recorded tapes/CD’s/DVD’s or any material which may be objectionable to family clientele.
  • NO ANIMALS, BIRDS, REPTILES OR PETS MAY BE SOLD, EXCHANGED OR GIVEN.
  • Petitions of any nature are forbidden.

Newsletters, newspapers, etc. required that we examine the contents, and it be free of controversial and/or objectionable material, as determined solely by the Maui Swap Meet Management.
Management reserves the right to restrict, or prohibit the sale of merchandise as directed by Local, County and State, and Federal Enforcement Agencies.
The Maui Swap Meet management reserves the right, at ay time, to prohibit certain additional items from being sold, swapped, exchanged, or distributed.
Soliciting and/or distribution of advertising material requires prior authorization.
All Sellers must enter with their respective vehicle. Only one vehicle per space is allowed.
  • Vehicles in the selling area can exit only prior to 7:00am and after 12:00am unless authorized.
  • Vehicles may only enter through the South central Main Driveway.
  • Vehicles may only exit through the East or West Driveways.

Each selling area is not to exceed the space between the ground markings, each space being designated by section and a number.
  • Sellers are not permitted to sell, distribute, display, or exchange items outside the selling area. This includes tables, tents, shade overhangs, etc. Merchandise displays are to be set up so as not to constitute a hazard or nuisance to the general public.

The Maui Swap Meet management assumes no responsibility for any items lost, stolen, or damaged while on these premises.
Each seller agrees to keep his/her own space clean, and shall be responsible for any damage to the swap meet grounds / equipment. No one is permitted to leave any discarded merchandise, boxes, packaging material, or cartons on the grounds. Trash bins located in the main parking area are provided for your use.
  • If excessive trash is found, the pertinent vendor may be charged a $25 service fee.
  • If subsequent offenses are repeated, the Maui Swap Meet reserves the right to suspend the vendor from future events.

Radios, generators, musical instruments, and/or sound systems must be kept at a level that is tolerable. The Maui Swap Meet Management reserves the right to monitor and determine that level.
No pets are allowed on the premises.
Area, grounds and parking lot area must be vacated by 4pm each Saturday.
Checks and Cash are the only accepted forms of payment.
  • Checks returned for “Insufficient Funds” will accrue a $25 service and handling fee. The first offense is considered a “Warning”. Subsequent offenses will require payment terms of cash to participate in future events.

Cancellations:
  • All cancellations will incur a $5 Cancellation/ Service Fee. In extreme or unfortunate circumstances, this fee may be waived. Maui Swap Meet Management reserves the right to determine when these fees will be imposed or if credit for participation will be applied to the next available event (pending space availability). All cancellations must be phoned into the office (808-877-3100) by 6am of the day of the event.
  • Remaining credit for cancellations will be forwarded to the following week pending space availability. If the vendor cancels the following (2nd) week, the credit is considered FORFEITED.

Inclement Weather:
Inclement weather is defined as heavy saturated Swap Meet grounds that may potentially cause a safety hazard to the general public.
  • During inclement weather, the seller may choose to cancel participation of the event for full credit. Cancellations will be credited to the next event pending space availability.
  • The $5 Cancellation / Service fee will be waived during Inclement Weather pending that the vendor is physically on the grounds prior to entering the Selling Area. Once a vendor enters the Selling Area, the Inclement Weather credit is forfeited.

Express Check-In (for Pre-Paid Selling Spaces):
  • Express Check-In will be open between the hours of 4:30am and 6am (unless otherwise posted via the Sellers Permit).
  • Vendors are required to be at the Entry Podium by 6am (unless specified otherwise on the Sellers Permit). After this time, you will be considered a ‘No-Show’ for the event and Maui Swap Meet reserves the right to re-sell the space of so required.

Regular’ Assigned Space Policy:
  • Regular spaces are assigned as a courtesy in consideration for regular participation.
  • The Maui Swap Meet reserves the right to charge a service fee to reinstate your space if events are missed.
  • As a general rule, the Maui Swap Meet will reassign the space after four missed consecutive events.

Space assignment is made at the sole discretion of Maui Exposition, Inc. and can be subject to change at any time.
Locality Awareness
  • All vendors must recognize that the Maui Swap Meet is located in storm water Retention Basin of the Maui Community College. During severe weather, or pending sever weather, the Swap Meet location may be moved to the Parking Lot adjacent to the current location.
  • Any spaces found with excessive erosion/wear will be placed on suspension until the pertinent area and top soil are deemed adequate for vehicle/pedestrian traffic.
  • Vendors must also recognize that the Swap Meet site and near surrounding locations are located in a Tsunami Zone. In the unlikely event that the Tsunami is predicted, the Kahului County Tsunami alarm will sound and all vendors are required to immediately leave the low lying areas of the Swap Meet by the closest available exit. The community mustering point is the Wailuku War Memorial Gym located west of the Area on Ka’ahumanu Ave. All vendors are encouraged to become acquainted with the surrounding area and familiarize on all possible evacuation routes.

The Maui Swap Meet management reserves the right to impose additional restrictions to ensure the success of the event.
