Company Background

The organization that is chosen for the purpose of this project is Microsoft Corporation. Microsoft is an American multinational company with strong presence in Canada. The company has various products like Xbox, Surface Laptop, Operating systems and various other small, medium and enterprise software.

The situation

The company has been a leader in Operating Systems but has been struggling to find a place in the market for SmartPhones. The company wants to give a stiff competition to Apple Inc. because it has established itself very strongly in the phone market while Microsoft's Lumia phone is still not working well. This is a strategic plan to achieve the ultimate vision of Microsoft to establish itself in the Smartphone market.

The objectives of the plan

The Windows phone users were present in the various markets but the company did not take care of them. The company withdrew from the markets where the phone had its presence and the customers felt abandoned. It would be crucial to making a long-term plan for the company so that it can compete effectively with companies like Apple Inc, Nokia, and Samsung (Millar, Millar & Choi, 2010). The company also faced issues because there was a lack of third-partyapplications (Spence, 2017). So it is proposed for Microsoft that it must deploy its Research and Development facilities to launch the world tiniest Smartphone which must have unique features and functionalities. The objectives of the plan are listed below:

  • To increase investment in Research and Development by 30 percent in the next sixmonths.
  • To increase customer engagement programs.
  • To win loyalty and trust of customers
  • To launch a micro-mini foldable super smartphone in one year

This project aims at giving a new purpose to the company and helping it revive its future in the Smartphone market. The company will come with a special micro-mini foldable phone in the next ten year's time.
